Awkward moment F1 TV presenter admits he doesn’t know which Jonas brother he’s interviewing in front of singer during Monaco GP grid walk

Martin Brundle has done it again.

The Sky Sports F1 pundit, who has made several blunders during his infamous pre-race grid walks, admitted he did not know who Joe Jonas was before approaching the singer for an interview on Sunday.

“We have one of the Jonas brothers here,” Brundle said during the live broadcast, as he walked onto the starting grid of the Monaco Grand Prix.

“I have to admit – I could lie, I could make something up – but I don’t know which one,” he added.

Joe, who is in a band with his brothers Kevin and Nick, didn’t seem offended by the blunder as he laughed with Brundle.

The Burnin’ Up musician said he is a fan of the sport and has previously attended F1 races in Miami, Austin and Montreal.

“I’m friends with Pierre,” Joe explained, referring to Alpine driver Pierre Gasly.

‘So I hope for a good return for him.’

After an electric qualifying session on Saturday, in which hometown hero Charles Leclerc took pole from McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, the lights went out for the race on Sunday afternoon.

Reigning world champion Max Verstappen started in sixth place with little room to maneuver on the track, which is notorious for the difficulty of completing overtakes.

Meanwhile, his teammate Sergio Perez walked away from a ‘monstrous’ 260km/h crash during a chaotic opening lap of the Grand Prix.

The Red Bull driver, who started sixteenth, was tagged after the first corner by the Haas of Kevin Magnussen who was driving uphill.

The Dane’s left front hit Perez’s right rear, sending him flying into the barriers.

Perez then ricocheted into the other Haas of Nico Hulkenberg in a dramatic pinball move that caused a long red flag while the debris was cleared.

Perez’s car was virtually destroyed with only one wheel left, although the monocoque protected the driver from physical damage.

Both Haas drivers also emerged from the collision without visible injuries.
