Eye-opening truth on why millions of people want to move to Australia – as immigration continues to soar
A young man from Indonesia on a working holiday in Australia is now earning what would be a full month’s salary at home in just two days.
The young man worked as a cleaner in a shopping center and reflected on the courageous decision to move to Australia, and how it changed his life forever.
“A month in Australia gave me some of the best experiences of my life,” he said in a video on social media
‘At 23, I never thought I would work in another country and be so warmly welcomed there. I’m really grateful.’
He also revealed that he can earn up to $60 an hour on holidays.
The young man explained that he keeps his living costs down by sharing a room and paying $130 a week, including all bills.
‘As a working holiday visa holder who works more than 40 hours a week, I can enjoy my lifestyle, save money and even send some back to my family in Indonesia. I’m really grateful for everything I have now.’
‘Your wages for two days are the same as your monthly salary in Indonesia.’
In one of his videos he shows that he works hard: cleaning toilets, sweeping and pushing his cleaning cart around the mall.
The young man’s inspiring attitude and strong work ethic have been welcomed by Australians.
“This man is a legend in every sense of the word,” one person wrote.
‘Thank you for coming here and contributing so much! Your work is appreciated,” said a second.

Net overseas migration in Australia remains high, welcoming over 446,000 migrants in 2023-2024
‘So glad you love Australia. Thanks for coming, we always need more great people,” a third added.
There are more than 2,408,196 temporary visa holders in Australia, including 53,655 from Indonesia.
Australia took in a net 446,000 foreign migrants in the 2023-2024 financial year, according to data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics
This is down from the record high of 536,000 in 2022-2023, but remains significantly higher than the Albanian government’s target of 395,000.
International students made up the largest proportion of migrants, totaling 207,000, with India being the main source country.
Labor’s mid-year budget update in December predicted 340,000 migrants would arrive in Australia in 2024-25.
That already represents a blow to the 260,000 predicted in the May budget.
The failure to meet targets cast doubt on the slowdown in forecast net overseas migration over the next three years, with 225,000 more arrivals than expected in 2026-27 and 225,000 in 2027-28.
