An extremely rare Robin teapot supposedly made for King Edward VII is on sale for £12,000.

The quirky 22 cm high antique was made in 1876 by William James Goode from Minton porcelain.

It was commissioned by the then Princess of Wales, Alexandra of Denmark, as a gift for her husband Edward, who became King in 1901 upon Victoria’s death.

More than a century later, the teapot will be auctioned on September 19 at Woolley and Wallis in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

The auction house said: ‘It is a piece full of Victorian character that should appeal to collectors.’
