Extraordinary photo shows a WATER TRUCK spectacularly bursting into flames as stunned tradies watch on

A water truck has been set on fire on a major country road in central Queensland, leaving its occupants fleeing for their lives.

Emergency services rushed to Dysart Middlemount Road near Middlemount at around 8.30am on Friday after reports of a truck on fire.

The fire brigade called for help during the journey after seeing huge plumes of black smoke at the scene.

When the fire brigade arrived on the scene, the truck was already on fire, but it was quickly extinguished.

A photo of the scene shortly after firefighters arrived shows the truck completely engulfed by the blaze, as thick plumes of smoke filled the air.

It is understood the fire broke out in the cabin of the truck, forcing the occupants to flee.

“Everyone made it out okay, there was no other threat to buildings or other vehicles,” a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said.

Paramedics were called to the scene, but no injuries were reported.

“No patients were treated and no transports were required,” said an ambulance spokesperson.

After the fire was under control, firefighters spent two hours clearing the scene.

Dysart Middlemount Road was closed in both directions for about an hour, but has since reopened.

Middlemount is located halfway between Mackay and Rockhampton.
