Former US President Donald Trump allegedly passed sensitive details about the US nuclear submarine fleet to an Australian billionaire, reports claim.

US news channel ABC News reports that during a conversation at Mar-a-Lago, the president’s lavish complex in Florida, Trump told cardboard industrialist Anthony Pratt the exact number of nuclear warheads carried by US submarines and how close they are to Russian boats could arrive without detection. in April 2021.

Mr Pratt has been contacted for comment and to confirm the reports.

The New York Times reports that former Australian ambassador to the United States Joe Hockey has downplayed Trump’s alleged revelations.

“If that’s all that’s been discussed, we all know it already,” Mr Hockey told US media.

“We’ve had Australians serving on American submarines alongside Americans for years, and we share the same technology and the same weapons as the US Navy.”

The news outlet also reports that Mr. Pratt has spoken with FBI agents and prosecutors working for Mr. Smith, who hit Mr. Trump with 40 charges over his alleged mishandling of classified information after leaving the White House.

The alleged conversation between Mr Trump and Mr Pratt coincided with a time when the Australian, US and British governments were engaged in secret discussions over the AUKUS pact, an agreement for Australia to acquire nuclear-powered submarines.
