Expect more improvements to the PlayStation Portal experience as Sony plans

It looks like there will be more PlayStation Portal improvements coming in 2025 and possibly beyond, and Sony is paying close attention to the community’s feedback.
That’s according to Hiromi Wakai, vice president of product management at Sony Interactive Entertainment. In an interview with Game fileWakai explained that Sony will likely take a more measured, long-term approach to expanding PlayStation Portal’s feature set.
“PS Portal was a new type of product for us, so we wanted to be extra careful to ensure our users get the best possible user experience,” Wakai said, referring to the addition of PS5 cloud game streaming to PlayStation Portal. She added: “We want to continue that approach with PS Portal and take incremental steps based on the community’s reception of the beta.”
Wakai also noted that PS Portal owners may be bigger gamers than you, telling Game File: “Players who own a PS Portal tend to spend more time playing games than those who don’t. It’s likely that users who purchase PS Portal were naturally more engaged in the first place, but our data shows that PS Portal owners tend to spend more time playing games than non-owners.”
The interview also mentions that the peak time for PlayStation Portal use appears to be around 9:00 PM – about an hour later than the PS5 console itself. This could indicate that players are getting off their consoles and continuing with gaming sessions on the Portal, whether that’s to relax with a game in bed or hand the TV over to someone else in the house.
