Exodus at Channel Seven continues as another star announces their resignation: ‘I’ve been thinking about this for a long time’
Another Channel Seven executive is parting ways with the network.
Melbourne 7News director Shaun Menegola announced his resignation in a letter to employees on Friday.
“Quickest note to let you know that I have decided to end my time here at the news in Melbourne,” he revealed.
“It’s entirely my decision and I’ve thought about it for a long time.”
Menegeola said the decision was simply to spend more time with family.

“It’s not driven by anything other than the fact that I’m looking for a break to recharge and reboot – and to spend time in my home state of WA with family,” he wrote.
“I couldn’t be more proud of what this team has achieved over the last five years and the bulletins we put out every night. It was a high point in the almost three decades that news bulletins and newsrooms had been running there.”
He added that he will remain at Seven for “a few weeks or months” and a replacement has yet to be unveiled.

Menegola joined the Melbourne newsroom in January 2019, replacing former Herald Sun editor Simon Pristel after five years at Channel Nine in Perth.
Previously, he worked as News Director for Seven in Perth for more than ten years.
It comes after Channel Seven’s head of news Craig McPherson left the network last Monday.
Seven confirmed that Mr McPherson – partner of Dancing With The Stars presenter Sonia Kruger – had suddenly left his role as network director of news and public affairs after nine years in the role.
He will be replaced by Anthony De Ceglie, who currently works as editor-in-chief for News Corp’s mastheads in Western Australia.

It comes after Channel Seven’s head of news Craig McPherson (pictured) left the network last Monday
“Mr McPherson played a pivotal role in leading Seven’s news and public affairs, offering more than two stints at Seven, including a long period of success at Today Tonight,” a Seven media statement said.
“He spent years managing the audiences for Sunrise and The Morning Show.”
Mr McPherson said in the statement that he had considered moving on for some time, but ultimately decided that ‘now is a good time for everyone to make a fresh start’.
He was the fourth executive to leave the network in April following the scandal over Spotlight’s lucrative deal with Lehrmann, who was found by the Federal Court to have civilly raped Brittany Higgins.
