Vivek Ramaswamy’s wife Apoorva said it was a “bummer” when Eminem’s legal team told the 2024 hopeful to stop rapping his music publicly.
Apoorva Ramaswamy, 34, told DailyMail.com in her first print interview that her husband’s ability to recite one of Eminem’s most popular songs is not important in the long run. But that didn’t stop the biotech millionaire from being a little disappointed by the news.
At the Iowa State Fair in August, Gov. Kim Reynolds asked 2024 candidates what their favorite hype-up song is. Vivek Ramaswamy, 38, said he enjoys walking to rapper Eminem’s Lose Yourself.
As Reynolds’ team started playing the song as she wrapped up her ‘Fairside Chat’ with Ramaswamy, he held the microphone and started rapping the lyrics in a moment that has now gone viral.
But Eminem apparently didn’t want the Republican candidate to use his music and had his music licensor BMI send a cease and desist letter to Ramaswamy’s campaign lawyers to revoke the team’s license to use his music.

Vivek Ramaswamy, 38, belted out Eminem’s Lose Yourself at the Iowa State Fair in August after Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds asked the candidate what his favorite walk-out song is — and then played it for the crowd.
“For what it’s worth, Vivek and the campaign didn’t turn on the music,” Apoorva explained in her interview on Sunday. “It was from the people of Iowa who turned on the music, so there was almost nothing we could stop doing.”
“We’re in it for the long haul,” she added of her husband’s campaign. “He loves that song, so it was a shame.”
“But that’s not an important part of this at all.”
The couple belong to the millennial generation, who grew up listening to Eminem’s music in the 1990s and 2000s. If elected, Ramaswamy would be the youngest president in US history at 38.
He has ignored his age as an asset at campaign events and has not backed down from those who say he is too inexperienced to be president.
Some suggest Ramaswamy is auditioning during his presidential run to be on the ticket with former President Donald Trump as vice president.
But Apoorva insists this is not true.
‘He’s not used to not being in charge. He runs companies,” she told DailyMail.com.
“I’ve known this man for a while,” she added. “There’s a reason why he’s an entrepreneur and didn’t rise to CEO from a large company.”
When asked if she has any deviations from her husband’s political views, Apoorva only joked that she probably wouldn’t “rap as much as he does” if she were the one running for president.
The throat surgeon and mother of two also admitted they are a family full of opinions.
“We are both very strong people and we agree 100% on the principles and ideas,” Apoorva noted.
She joked, “I definitely wouldn’t rap as much as him.”
‘I think I’m very proud of what he does. And I think that if people take the time to actually listen to his entire message, he does so with a sense of respect for all Americans, and with a genuine respect for our autonomy and our ability to rise above, which I’m really proud of. up am. .’

At one point, Apoorva’s one-year-old son Arjun could be heard crying as they traveled through Iowa on the campaign bus.
“Sorry, our littlest guy is going crazy right now,” Apoorva said. “He also has a lot of opinions.”
The couple’s other son is Karthik, four.
Apoorva and Vivek met at Yale when he was in law school and she was in medical school. They married in 2015 and now share two children. Both come from a household with one brother and two Indian immigrant parents.
While Vivek Ramaswamy co-founded a handful of companies — most notably in asset management, hedge funds and biotechnology — Apoorva is now a throat surgeon and assistant professor in Ohio.
Apoorva’s father was also a surgeon.
