“She still has my vote,” is the message from voters of Susanna Gibson, the scandal-hit candidate who ran for a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates.
Friends and neighbors spoke to DailyMail.com as Democrat Gibson was spotted for the first time since videos of her performing sex acts on her husband for ‘tips’ or ‘tokens’ were leaked online.
Exclusive photos obtained by DailyMail.com show the X-rated candidate at her home in Henrico, Virginia. She has issued a statement saying she refuses to back down or be “silenced” by the leak, which her attorney, Daniel Watkins, has characterized as a crime akin to revenge porn.
Dressed in daisy dukes and a white tank top, her blonde hair in a ponytail, nurse practitioner Gibson, 40, paced back and forth in front of her spacious red-brick home, apparently engrossed in a phone conversation.

Mother-of-two Gibson declined to comment when asked for comment by DailyMail.com
Earlier in the day, it had been business as usual for her family lawyer husband, John David Gibson, 43, who showed up at this law firm in Louisa, Virginia.
When contacted by DailyMail.com, Gibson, a mother-of-two, declined to comment, but neighbors and friends were keen to express their continued support for the woman they see as the victim of ‘dirty tricks’.
Signs supporting her candidacy are still scattered throughout the Toney enclave, where neo-colonial homes line leafy streets and on any given day residents can enjoy the racquet club tennis courts or the neighborhood community pool.
The videos are no longer active on Recurbate, but can be found on other publicly available sites. Gibson has denounced the reporting of the videos
A friend, who asked not to be named, admitted: ‘I was shocked when the details emerged. I consider her my friend and it’s definitely not something you expect, but she still has my vote.
“She’s done the work, she’s done the interviews and she’s made it clear where she stands on the issues, and that’s what it comes down to. I think what came out should never have come out and it was done for the wrong reasons.”
She added: ‘I think it might be different for people from my parents’ generation – they know her too and the shock value is definitely harder for them to look past.’
Another confessed: ‘When I first heard about it, I completely rejected her as a candidate. Maybe it’s my age, I’m in my sixties, but it felt so deeply inappropriate.
“But then I thought about it again, and I thought, ‘Look what Donald Trump got away with,’ … grabbed them by the you-know-what and he still became president. I don’t think what she did was that bad.
‘Ten years ago it would have been a game changer, but now the culture is different. She was with her husband, there was no infidelity as far as we know. It’s quite complicated. I was once a Republican, but both my husband and I have become more liberal in the wake of Trump. I don’t want abortion to be reversed.
“It’s going to take more than a leaked sex tape to make me vote Republican again.”

Videos of Gibson on sex site Chaturbate, a platform that says it is named for “masturbating while chatting online,” appeared earlier this week.
In it, she can be seen with her husband in the background, apparently chatting with others online on the site where videos are streamed live and without a password.
More than a dozen of Gibson’s videos were archived on another site, Recurbate, in September 2022, and while it is not clear when they were streamed live, her username, which is no longer active, had 5,770 followers.
Those followers watched footage like one of the leaked clips in which she tells her husband, “I’ll let you fuck me doggy style in a private room if anyone wants to pay.” That’s the deal.’
She told her fans that she has an open relationship with her husband, although he “doesn’t like to share” and that the money was “for a good cause.”
But this week another friend, who wished to remain anonymous, said: ‘I still support her. Yes, it got me thinking, but mostly because it was a matter of poor judgment.
“I mean, of course it went through my head, ‘Who would run for office if they knew they had this in their closet?’ Maybe it didn’t occur to her that it was archived. My understanding is that these livestreams were never intended to be recorded, so someone broke the law and should be prosecuted.”
He added: “She is certainly guilty of internet ignorance: everything that is on the internet lives forever.
‘But what am I going to do? Vote for the man who bans abortion but doesn’t ban guns or tax the rich?’
Gibson, pictured above with her husband John David Gibson, is running for a highly competitive seat in suburban Richmond. She claims Republicans are responsible for making the videos public, and accused her Republican rivals of “sex crimes”
Gibson has said the 2022 U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v Wade propelled her into political life.
She won the Democratic primary in June and will face Republican businessman David Owen in one of the state’s most competitive districts.
Owen has not commented on the scandal, other than to say he is “certain this is a difficult time for Susanna and her family,” and that he “remains focused” on his own campaign.
Gibson and Owen are competing in the 57th District, an area that includes the wealthy Richmond suburbs in Henrico and Goochland counties.
The district elected Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin in 2021 by a 51.2 percent margin, but in the 2020 Congressional midterm elections the split was 50 percent Democratic to 49.1 percent Republican.
