Top Republicans are criticizing John Kerry’s climate trip to China, saying it was a “sign of weakness” on the global stage and resulted in no concrete solutions.

Kerry, the US special envoy for climate change and former secretary of state, flew to China this week to hold climate change meetings with the communist country’s top leadership.

China Select Committee Chairman Mike Gallagher told DailyMail.com on Wednesday that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) only respects expressions of strength, which Kerry failed to convey during his recent trip.

“As a Marxist-Leninist regime, they interpret appeasement as weakness and only respect determination and use it as an opportunity to advance their aggressive agenda,” Gallagher said in response to a question from DailyMail.com.

He said the reason the CCP prefers Kerry as their “primary interlocutor” is because he “naively and incorrectly believes in my opinion” that climate change — not the CCP itself — is the “biggest threat we face.” confronted’.

Elise Stefanik, chairwoman of the House GOP Conference, called Kerry’s trip a “pathetic” attempt to “appease communist China” in a statement to DailyMail.com.

“While the CCP conducts cyber-espionage attacks against US executive agencies, operates an intelligence-gathering facility in our backyard, and buys up US farmland next to sensitive military installations, Joe Biden continues to pander to the CCP by sending John Kerry to Beijing,” their statement said. ignoring aggression, to engage in pointless discussions about climate change with the world’s biggest polluter,” Stefanik said.

Gallagher added that the CCP is not particularly interested in fighting climate change, contrary to the government’s claims.

“I think there is a mountain of evidence to suggest that the CCP is one of the worst environmental actors in the world,” he said.

“And our overall energy policies currently seem designed to increase our reliance on China, particularly for electric vehicle batteries and solar panel sub-components,” he added.

Gallagher said it is “typical of zombie-involvement thinking” with Kerry and other government officials “telling themselves that they can separate their pet issue from the genocidal communist nature of the Beijing regime.”

Kerry is the third top Biden official to travel to China in recent weeks. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen also met with their colleagues.

The chairman also comments on 100-year-old former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger’s trip to China this week.

Gallagher said he had not yet read what was discussed between Kissinger and Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu, but he sees it as the CCP’s way of “testing” and also “humiliating” the US on the world stage.

Kissinger was able to meet with Li despite the CCP’s current Biden Defense Sec. Lloyd Austin’s request to meet a few weeks ago.

Gallagher said the meeting may have been a way for the CCP to “throw salt in our wounds” by allowing Li to meet Kissinger and not Austin.

House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik called Kerry’s trip a “pathetic” attempt to “appease communist China”

He called it “pretty unbelievable” that 100-year-old Kissinger is still able to travel the world and conduct high-level meetings.

Senator Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, told DailyMail.com during an exclusive interview Tuesday that it is a “sign of complete hypocrisy” to allow the Biden administration’s climate czar John Kerry to “fly around the world in a plane.”

Ernst said Kerry’s trips violate standards for “all types of fossil fuels, flames and emissions” for which he criticizes all others.

“So I think the climate czar should stay home, focus on his green energy policy.”
