EXCLUSIVE: Suzan Mutesi finally reveals her Photoshop secrets as she posts an event picture which is very different to the red carpet version: ‘I’m a digital designer and I love it!’

Suzan Mutesi has finally revealed her Photoshop skills after months of making headlines with her highly edited Instagram photos.

The Challenge star, 37, told Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday that she has her iPhone to thank for all her flawless images, as well as FaceTune and Photoshop.

After appearing on the red carpet at the launch of the Shein pop-up store in Sydney last week, Suzan took matters into her own hands.

She looked every inch the glam in an Instagram photo from the soiree, heavily editing a photo from an official photographer.

The Ugandan Australian appeared to have a much lighter complexion and elongated legs.

Meanwhile, the red carpet photo from the event’s official photographer showed Suzan looking slightly shorter and wearing much less makeup.

“Sometimes the lead photographer… won’t bring his light. So not all camera settings are set for dark-skinned girls or other skin tones,” she explained to Daily Mail Australia.

‘It also depends on the room. Sometimes the lighting in the room is… like the room is beautifully decorated, but there are shadows and it’s dark.”

Suzan, who was accused in May of photoshopping a lion’s head onto her shoulder to resemble Kylie Jenner, explained that she often makes sure to use the ProRAW settings on her iPhone before anyone else takes low-angle photos of makes her.

She then uses apps like FaceTune and Photoshop on her phone to create an enhanced version of her red carpet photos.

‘Of course it helps if you have a good foundation. If you don’t look great, you won’t get the best photo,” she joked.

As for the dark, smoky eye makeup suddenly appearing in many of her Instagram photos, Suzan said poor lighting is the cause.

‘That’s what happens when you have downlights. It darkens your face, but it doesn’t lighten it,” she said of her official red carpet photos.

“So if I brighten that photo, it emphasizes the facial features and the eyes, but you can also use PhotoTune to accentuate your eyes in a way that accentuates the liner a little bit so you can see exactly what the eye is like.”

Suzan revealed that FaceTune is her favorite editing app, which she will often use for low-light event photos.

She said the iPhone Photoshop app is also in her arsenal at times, but “you need to make sure your photo is in a good environment” before editing it in the app.

“Having these settings before you take the photo can help you enhance your photo because you can’t just drastically go from one thing to the other unless you’re just having fun,” she said.

Suzan has been scolded several times by influencer watchdogs and media heads for heavily editing her photos.

She often adds designer items or completely changes the background to make it look like she’s living a more luxurious lifestyle than she actually is.

However, Suzan compared her chronic photo editing to Chris Hemsworth becoming Thor for a movie, or Beyoncé sharing a professional glamor photo of herself online.

‘Barbie doesn’t look like Barbie every day. She’s just an ordinary girl in jeans… Sometimes people will hate it, but I’m a digital artist and I love it,” Suzan said.

She added, “You’re not that person, but it just looks better on your socials and it just emphasizes that life better.”
