Honest: Speaking to Blag Magazine, which relaunches this month, the 32-year-old singer opened up about how marriage has “made her more mature” but admitted that “nobody really prepares you for it.”
“And so I think that was a big shock in the best way because you really feel like you’re growing up (and) that’s what they teach you. You get married, you grow up, you become a lady, you grow up, you become a woman.”
On the pressure to have children, she added: “Then it’s like having children and all these things they teach you. But I never believed in that.
“But I feel like getting married… it’s a big decision and it was a real wake-up call for me to know, ‘Whoa, I’m really in control of my life,’ because that was such a impactful choice.’

The couple tied the knot in an impromptu ceremony they planned in just two weeks with eight people in attendance, after Rita popped the question during a trip to Palm Springs.
Rita donned a look full of looks from the British designer and told the story Fashion why she chose the semi-sheer dress in particular to walk down the aisle.
She explained: ‘I was looking for something that would feel unique and a little unexpected, so I went with the one shoulder and the lace.

‘I saw this Tom Ford dress years ago and found it in my exact size just before the wedding. It can’t be meant much more than that.’
Speaking about wearing Tom Ford on her big day, Rita said: ‘He is now one of my good friends, and I adore and admire him immensely. Getting married in his dress was a dream come true.
“And because it wasn’t planned, I didn’t know if the right dress would be in town, and I just took a risk and went to the Tom Ford store, and they had it perfectly set up with the veil, in my size no adjustments had to be made.’
For the ceremony, Rita donned a beautiful white lace one-shoulder dress, paired with chunky platform heels.
The star then changed into a dramatic white dress with ruffles and a plunging front for the reception, before changing into a statement flared bralet, co-ord and lace.
Rita further revealed that she wore her mother’s pearls with her wedding dress, while Taika wore a Brunello Cucinelli suit.
In January, Rita finally confirmed that she and Taika had tied the knot after months of speculation, describing the wedding as “perfect” and a “special day.”
The hitmaker spoke on Heart Radio Breakfast to promote her latest single You Only Love Me, shortly after posing topless to celebrate its release.
Rita said: ‘Yes (I’m married). I’m officially off the market folks. I chose to keep it more private and to myself, but with my new video I play on what could have been.”
She continued, “When the rumors came out, so was she, right? I wanted to play it. I wanted to have a wedding that didn’t go to plan… that doesn’t mean it actually happened.”

Gushing about the big day, Rita said: ‘It was perfect. It was exactly, exactly what I wanted’.
‘It was fun and perfect. It’s nice to just keep some things to myself, sometimes it was nice and sweet… Sorry, it’s not that interesting. One day I’ll throw a big party.’
Rita and Taika started dating after being good friends for years, with the star telling Tatler last month: ‘We became really good friends for about four years and then decided to screw it all up and get married.
‘I had never had a real friendship with anyone before I ended up with him. I honestly think it was the best way to get to know someone.”
