EXCLUSIVE: NYC Health Department tells New Yorkers MASKING UP on Labor Day would be a ‘good idea’ – as new Covid variants drive up infection rates
New Yorkers are being told to consider masking this Labor Day weekend due to concerns over rising Covid cases and a new variant.
A spokesperson for the city’s health department told DailyMail.com that precautions such as wearing coverings in busy indoor areas may be a “good idea.”
When asked if everyone should wear face masks, he said, “As the number of cases increases, precautions such as face masks could be a good idea.”
Earlier this week, the city’s health commissioner, Dr Ashwin Vasan, said measures against Covid were “increasingly important”.
“Keeping up to date with Covid vaccines, along with other proven prevention tools – such as masking, testing and staying home when sick – remains our best defense against Covid and other respiratory viruses,” he said.
