Naomi’s partnership with PLT was announced last month, with some expressing distaste for promoting fast fashion.

But looking back at the critics, Naomi revealed that it was important to partner with the leading fashion brand to help the designers she had worked with.

She said Women’s clothing everyday: ‘I see myself as a changemaker. As a changemaker, I thought this was a good thing to do.

‘I know it’s fast fashion and people have their criticisms. I don’t deny them. But as a changemaker, I thought this was a great way to drive change in the industry by getting my emerging designers recognized and seeing them on a global platform.”

Naomi – who has spoken openly about her issues with racism in the fashion world – also discussed her thoughts on “diversity” in the industry today.

She explained, “I’m so about the word. Here’s my point – I feel like so many people just use that word to check a box, to make sure they don’t get called out or anything like that.

‘I don’t use that word. For me, it’s not about using the word or checking a box; it’s about doing the action, the pure action. It’s giving a piece of your platform and sharing it with someone who’s talented.”

The exclusive line designed by the British fashion icon will be launched next month during New York Fashion Week.

A spokesperson for the brand told MailOnline last month, “PrettyLittleThing is very excited to announce an upcoming collaboration with legendary supermodel Naomi Campbell.

‘This exclusive collection will intertwine the essence of PLT with Naomi’s unique style and promises a fashion experience like no other.

‘PrettyLittleThing Designed by Naomi Campbell – a new chapter in our fashion story is about to begin.’

Naomi’s partnership with the brand comes after a long-standing friendship with former CEO Umar Kamani, 35, who stepped down in April but has continued to be closely involved in the top-secret project.

One of the pioneers of the fashion industry, having become the first black model ever to grace a cover of British Vogue in 1988 and having more than thirty years of experience under her designer belt, sources close to PrettyLittleThing say the brand is ecstatic to have her on board.

A fashion insider told MailOnline: ‘This is huge, it’s such a privilege for Naomi to showcase her own collection together with PLT.

“It has been discussed between Naomi and Umar for years, but now their ideas have finally become reality and soon the rest of the world will see what they have been working on.

‘Naomi is of course an absolute perfectionist and has designed the series with every detail carefully executed.’

The partnership is Naomi’s first venture after the birth of her second child, whom she introduced to her 15.2 million Instagram followers in June.

Her newborn son, whose name remains unknown, is the model’s second baby after she welcomed a daughter in May 2021.

She captioned an image of her rocking her son while her daughter held his hand: “My little darling, know that you are cherished beyond measure and surrounded by love from the moment you graced us with your presence.” A true gift from God. Blessed! Welcome little boy.’

She added, “It’s never too late to become a mother.”

Naomi never revealed how her daughter was born, but rather hinted that she may have used a surrogate mother, saying that science had given her the chance to start a family “whenever she wants.”

Naomi’s accomplishments, which include modeling for the likes of Burberry, Chanel, and Prada, go beyond her A-list status in the fashion industry.

The model founded Fashion for Relief in 2005 and has since raised millions of pounds for underprivileged children.
