EXCLUSIVE: My drunk boyfriend attacked me when I refused to have sex with him because he FaceTimed me while he was frolicking with someone else
A mother who was assaulted by her drunk plumber boyfriend after she refused to have sex with him has revealed for the first time exactly why she rejected his advances.
Luana Dougherty, 49, said she elbowed Alex Craig for recently facetiming her while having sex with someone else.
The rejection sparked a terrifying fit from Craig, 36, who even called his 79-year-old father Francis to join in as the couple unleashed a torrent of violence against Luana, her daughter Carlee and her boyfriend Finn McBride, both 16.
Luana told MailOnline in an exclusive interview that she was “frightened for her life” when the two men attacked.
The father-and-son attackers escaped with suspended sentences for the fight in Frodsham, Cheshire, when they appeared in court this week.
Alex and Luana in happier times. Alex Craig, a wealthy businessman who was denied sex by his lover Luana Dougherty, recruited his 78-year-old father Francis to ‘sort her out’ in a terrifying revenge attack

When police later arrested the father and son, they both claimed to have acted in self-defense and were each sentenced to 18 months in prison, with 18 months suspended after admitting they had a fight at Chester Crown Court
Luana explained how her five-year relationship with Craig, boss of a £72,000-a-year plumbing company, had deteriorated because of his drinking and cheating.
But she finally decided to call it a day in March after a night of wine with him, due to the explicit video he had previously sent her of him having sex with someone else a few weeks earlier.
“I couldn’t believe what I saw,” she said. “I took a screenshot and knew I had to get out of this relationship.
After drinking wine the night before the fight, Luana said Craig continued drinking and downed a fridge full of beer.
When his romantic overtures were rejected the next morning, he went berserk, attacking Luana herself, as well as Carlee and Finn – and bizarrely calling for his elderly father to join in.
“When he’s drunk, he’s unstoppable,” remembers community support worker Luana. “There have been a few times when he had gone mad, but this was the worst. He was like a man possessed.
“He got it into his head that I took his cell phone because they’re the same color, but I didn’t.
“It was all on a rather remote farm where we were staying and we were all terrified of what would happen next,” she recalls.
“He pushed Carlee to the ground and dragged her around while Finn tried to help her up.”
Craig Jr. then pushed Finn onto the gravel before kicking him and throwing his bike at him as his dad grabbed Carlee’s hair.
The young couple briefly took refuge in the bathroom, along with Carlee’s grandmother who was also in the house, and called the police.
Both were subject to an indefinite restraining order prohibiting them from contacting Miss Dougherty (pictured) – a social worker in her 40s – and the teens
Alex Craig kicked Carlee in the ribs before turning his attention to Finn who had tried to intervene and take his father’s car keys.
Luana, who had left earlier in the confrontation, returned to the house to retrieve her cell phone, only to be pushed by her partner.
“I heard his father yelling” “Pull her hair, pull her hair!” and Alex pulled out large chunks of hair – I really didn’t know what was going to happen next.
‘At a moment like that you really fear for your life.
‘I don’t know why he called his dad – he’s a real daddy’s boy.
“They used every item they could find to attack us. Alex threw a bicycle, an electric fan and billiard balls at Finn.
“When they had me on the ground and pulled my hair, Finn saw the old man’s keys and grabbed them to stop them from escaping.
Then they both turned on Finn. The old man had his finger in Finn’s mouth and literally tried to tear his face and Alex bit Finn under the armpit.
“Then I grabbed a carrier bag with four cans of beer and a bottle of milk and started hitting Alex on the head with it, which got them off Finn and then they started to back off.”
When police arrived, the two men had fled, but were later arrested.
They both initially claimed to have acted in self-defence, but were each sentenced to 18 months in prison, with 18 months suspended after they admitted they had an altercation at Chester Crown Court. Their innocent pleas to assault were accepted.
Craig Jr. was further ordered to pay a total of £3,750 in damages to the three victims, while his father must pay £750 in damages.
Both were subject to an indefinite restraining order prohibiting them from contacting Miss Dougherty and the teens.
Luana said she had had happy times with Alex Craig, but he became uncontrollable after bouts of heavy drinking and she was happy to have found a much more stable relationship with her new partner, roofer Howard Kynaston.
In court this week, Gareth Roberts, Craig Jr.’s counsel, said mitigatingly, “He comes to court quite embarrassed and ashamed of his involvement in this very unfortunate case.
“He knows he acted in a way that was completely inappropriate. He wishes he could turn back the clock and act in a different way. He is usually an extremely productive and usually a law-abiding man.
“The relationship with Luana Dougherty is now completely over.”
For Craig Snr, John Wyn Williams said: ‘He had a pretty rough childhood when he was moved to North Wales as an evacuee and abandoned by his mother.
“He has health problems and is not in the same financial position as his son – he has limited resources.”
Mr Recorder Mark Ainsworth condemned the pair, saying: ‘Frankly, however you dress them, the events of that day are embarrassing.
The relationship between the two is now over, the court heard
“I find it remarkable that at no point during this incident, which lasted for some time, did either of them step back and think, ‘What the hell am I doing?’
Objects were thrown at various times, including billiard balls. I make it absolutely clear, had there been a post-trial conviction, you would have faced immediate jail time.
“Although it is tempting to say you should go to prison, there is a real prospect of rehabilitation, so I need to step back and suspend the sentence.”
“It is quite rare to see father and son in the dock and it is also very disturbing to see – especially in these circumstances.”
