Millie Court and Liam Reardon detailed how they rekindled their relationship in their first joint interview since getting back together.
The Love Island stars won the seventh series of the hit ITV2 show in 2021 and embarked on a year-long relationship before splitting in July 2022.
However, this year, rumors started circulating that they had reconciled with the couple and finally confirmed that their romance was back on.
Speaking to MailOnline, Millie, 26, and Liam, 24, discussed how they decided to give things a second chance, saying their relationship is now ‘better than ever’.
Liam said: ‘I think the break we had really helped a lot. I never felt like I never wanted to see her again.’

Millie added that the fact that their breakup hadn’t been acrimonious meant that the couple always felt the split was temporary.
She explained, “It didn’t end sour, it wasn’t much of a breakup. It was a decision that we needed a break.
“I think we both knew this wasn’t going to be something that would end forever. I think we knew this was something we wanted to revisit, but it was about time we needed it.”
She gushed, “We managed to get it working again and now it’s better than ever.”
Millie also said, “Liam was 21 when he went on the show and celebrated his birthday there and he’s 24 now and I’m coming to 27!” So maybe we’re a bit more mature too.’
Despite speculation surrounding the couple, they made a conscious decision to keep their rekindled relationship private at first and have only recently publicly confirmed their reunion.
Explaining the decision, Liam said they had chosen to keep things quiet to avoid the intense criticism that had arisen when they first got together, admitting it played a part in causing their breakup .
He explained, “People have private lives and can’t put everything on social media. And we stood together on the building blocks of our relationship.

One that escaped: Millie added that the fact that their divorce hadn’t been acrimonious meant the couple always felt the split was temporary (pictured this month)
“Last year we went our separate ways and that was partly because so many people felt like they were involved in our relationship and stuck their noses into it.
“Some people were obviously friendly, but sometimes you just want some privacy.
“We decided that if we want this to work, we have to make it work for us and let other people not interfere. Especially in the initial phase.’
Millie added, “We just wanted to work on ourselves and have fun and build our relationship, with no one having an opinion about it at the time.”
And Liam continued, “A lot of people feel like they’re nice, and we do appreciate the support, but sometimes it can be too much.
“If you’re also going through a breakup and everyone’s like, “Oh, you should have stayed together!” As much as we love living our lives on social media, we also want our privacy.”
Now more in love than ever, the couple made their first public appearance on Wednesday to celebrate MONOPOLY’s return to McDonald’s restaurants on Sept. 6.
Despite being completely in love, they admitted that they had irritations about each other in the relationship.

Millie confessed, “What I don’t like about Liam is when he eats at home he doesn’t care what he looks like and takes the biggest bites so the food really looks like it’s falling out of his mouth.”
“And I thought, do you have to eat like this? He won’t do it in public, but at home he’s a very messy eater.’
She added: ‘And he’ll leave the table before I’m done – I don’t like that! I want to wait until I’m done eating and then we’ll get up together, but he says, “No, I have to get up because he can’t sit too long.”
Liam retaliated, revealing, “Millie steals my toothbrush. Even if I buy her one, she’ll still lose it and use mine.’
Millie defended herself and said, “I don’t understand why it’s bad to use your toothbrush?”
On a roll, Liam added, “She recently used my hair wax to set her hair back and then left the lid off and it all dried out. I don’t mind if you use my things, just put them back in the right place!’
Discussing MONOPOLY’s return to McDonald’s, Liam said, “We’ve always loved McDonalds. Millie is obsessed with McDonalds. In the run-up to Monopoly’s return, it’s good to hype it up.’
Millie admitted, “I always get excited when it comes in because I like opening it up and winning a cheeseburger.”
Liam continued, “You just pull it back and you can potentially win. And if you don’t, at least you’ll get a delicious meal! One lucky person might win a nice vacation. It wasn’t us, but I hope someone else enjoys it.’
