EXCLUSIVE: Matthew Perry’s ex Molly Hurwitz ‘wishes’ Friends star had not ‘thrown away’ their relationship by messaging a 19-YEAR-OLD girl on Raya – but does ‘not harbor any negative feelings’ even though their ‘split was not amicable’
Matthew Perry’s ex-fiancée Molly Hurwitz has been left ‘heartbroken’ by his sudden death, according to insiders, who claim she had hoped for a long-term relationship with the actor before ‘he threw it away’.
The Friends star – who was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Saturday – was first romantically linked to the literary manager, who works for Thruline Entertainment, in 2018 before they got engaged in November 2020.
But the relationship came to a dramatic end around the summer of 2021 after it was claimed Perry messaged a 19-year-old on exclusive dating app Raya.
“Of course she is heartbroken about his death,” the insider exclusively told DailyMail.com. “She loved him and, like anyone else in her case, wishes things had been different.”

The source added that while Perry had longed for a stable relationship, he ultimately failed to behave in a way that could make that a reality.
They continued, “Matthew claimed he wanted this family and to be loved by one woman forever, but he had that with her until he threw it away.”
The pair’s relationship ended after footage of the actor’s flirty exchange with the 19-year-old surfaced online.
Perry was seen in a video posted in May 2021 flirting with TikTok user @kittynichole — real name Kate Haralson — who claims they matched on the members-only dating service that month.
Haralson shared the footage of himself with the caption, “When you jokingly match Matthew Perry on a dating app and he FaceTimes you and plays 20 questions with you.”
The leak ultimately put the final nail in the coffin for Perry and Hurwitz’s relationship, with the source claiming: ‘She caught him on a dating website talking to a teenage girl and he got defensive.
“Their breakup was not amicable, but Molly doesn’t blame him or harbor any negative feelings.”
Perry confirmed their split at the time, saying in a statement: “Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them. I wish Molly the best.”

Hurwitz posted a moving tribute to her ex-fiancé on Instagram, claiming he would.I love that the world is talking about how talented he was.”
She recalled how he “rediscovered his genius” when they rewatched Friends together ahead of the 2021 reunion, before adding that she also “clearly knew that man in a very different way.”
“Although I loved him more than I could understand, he was complicated and caused pain like I had never known,” she said.
“No one in my adult life has had a greater impact on me than Matthew Langford Perry. I am extremely grateful for that, for everything I have learned from our relationship.’
Elsewhere, another source told DailyMail.com that Perry – who never married before his death – longed for stepchildren, thanks to his great relationship with his own stepfather, Keith Morrison.
“Matthew has always dreamed of having the perfect family,” a second source close to the star told DailyMail.com. ‘He wanted a wife, and at least some children. And he said he wouldn’t mind marrying a woman who already had children.”
“No one meant more to Perry in this world than his stepfather Keith Morrison, the host of Dateline, who married his mother in 1981,” the source said.
The actor, who rose to fame as the sarcastic Chandler Bing in the groundbreaking ’90s sitcom, was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Saturday after emergency services were called around 4pm local time.
He had reportedly played a two-hour game of Pickleball – a sport similar to tennis but played on a smaller court – earlier in the day before sending his assistant out on an errand. When they returned, Perry was found lifeless in his hot tub.
The source added that while Perry longed for a stable relationship, he ultimately failed to behave in a way that could make that a reality with Hurwitz.
The actor was last pictured in public on October 22 when he went out for dinner with a friend
Perry won a global fan base for his role in Friends, for which he received an Emmy nomination in 2002, but behind the glitz and glamor he secretly battled substance abuse for decades.
The star exposed the culmination of his terrible battle with drug and alcohol addiction, which almost cost him his life in a bookFriends, Lovers, and the Great Terrible: A Memoir.
Perry also revealed that his colon ruptured as a result of his opioid addiction when he was just 49.
The doctors gave him only a two percent chance of survival and he was in a coma for two weeks, followed by another month in the hospital.
The actor famously reunited with Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer for the 2021 Friends Reunion special
Perry required fourteen surgeries to repair all the abdominal damage, and he admitted to going to rehab fifteen times over the years in hopes of kicking his drug addiction.
At one point during his Friends career, he admits he was taking 55 Vicodin a day and weighed just 128 pounds, but he “didn’t know how to stop.”
Fans and friends alike have flooded social media with tributes to the star as they continue to cope with his untimely death.
Devoted followers of the show even created artwork of the actor and his late co-star James Michael Tyler – who played Gunther – having a cup of coffee together in heaven.
