EXCLUSIVE: Married At First Sight’s Mishel Karen claims Seb Guilhaus was nervous at a porn convention just days before the drug bust and believes the dating show’s fame “took its toll”

Former Married At First Sight star Seb Guilhaus shocked fans of the Channel Nine series this week when he was arrested and charged with drug trafficking following a dramatic police raid on his Adelaide home.

Now one of his co-stars has revealed that Guilhaus, 35, was “seriously anxious” just days before his arrest and the hit reality show’s aftermath may be partly to blame for his downward spiral.

Mishel Karen, 52, appeared in the seventh season of Married At First Sight with Guilhaus in 2020, and now they are both currently working in the adult entertainment industry.

The pair made an appearance at LoveX Australia sex and porn convention in Brisbane last month, where Karen noticed that Guilhaus was “stressed out” over something that had happened to a friend.

“He was very nervous and stressed, he couldn’t relax. I tried to get him on stage but he was very anxious,” she told Daily Mail Australia.

Karen also added that the former personal trainer was “really focused on making money with his OnlyFans.”

The grandmother called Guilhaus “cute” and expressed concern that his time with Married At First Sight may have contributed to his recent anxiety.

“He was so together during MAFS, but it never lets you go. You get better after the show, but you always go down,” she said.

“The thing about being Married At First Sight is that you never get taken seriously in your profession anymore, and he was a fitness instructor and the new thing about Seb being on reality TV is probably what people were interested in, rather than what he had to offer,” she explained.

“I feel like the same thing happened to me and many of us. It’s a struggle to be taken seriously and then you do something like OnlyFans and maybe you’re okay with it, but maybe you’re not deep down,” she continued.

Karen previously worked as a policy trainer with the Queensland Police Service, but said she was sentenced to work life after her time at MAFS, so she eventually turned to sex work to make ends meet.

“I think we struggle with mental health after Married At First Sight because we may not know we are. Are we the TV character or who we thought we were?’ she mused.

Guilhaus was arrested Friday by detectives from the Serious and Organized Crime Branch at his Croydon property, where officers reportedly seized nearly 1kg of methamphetamine, with a street value of at least $90,000.

He appeared before the Adelaide Magistrates Court late Friday charged with one count of trafficking in a commercial quantity of methamphetamine, The Advertiser reports.

Guilhaus, who was remanded in custody to appear for a bail hearing later this week, appeared on season seven of MAFS in 2020.

He teamed up with fan-favorite bride Lizzie Sobinoff on the Channel Nine show, but they split a year later in 2021.

Guilhaus previously worked as a personal trainer before joining the subscription-based adult website OnlyFans and embarking on a career as a porn star.

Superintendent Billy Thompson, the major and organized crime officer responsible for the arrest, described the 870 grams of meth found as “significant.”

“Methamphetamine causes terrible harm to users and our communities,” he said.

“This seizure is a significant amount and would have a street value of approximately $90,000.

“Those who trade illegal drugs in these quantities do so purely out of their own greed, they have no regard for others.”

Before his stint on reality television, Guilhaus played 48 games in the South Australia National Football League, scoring 15 goals.

In 2021, he was named one of Adelaide’s ‘most coveted singles’.

In June, the bodybuilder shared photos of his gym-honed physique with his 92,000 Instagram followers.

‘Progress leads to progress… if all faculties are in order (nutrition, sleep, mental well-being) training follows. By continuing to work on my mental health, discipline and routine I will be able to bring a more refined package to the stage in October.”

One of his latest OnlyFans projects was a collaboration with fellow MAFS star Hayley Vernon, who has also transitioned into porn since appearing on the show.
