Manchester United expect Luke Shaw to be fit again in ten weeks as they look for a short-term solution with Tottenham player Sergio Reguilon.

United revealed that Shaw was injured following their defeat to Tottenham, with the England left-back damaging a thigh muscle.

That sparked their search for cover at left-back, which initially led them to identify Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella.

However, after the Spaniard played in the Carabao Cup tie against Wimbledon on Wednesday evening, Manchester United’s plans became complicated. Ideally, they wanted an exit clause that would allow them to send Cucurella back to Chelsea in January once Shaw and backup Tyrell Malacia are fully fit.

Still, Wednesday night’s performance meant Cucurella would have been ineligible to leave and then appear for a third club in the second half of the season should Chelsea look to move him again.

United’s talks over Marc Cucurella have reached a deadlock over Chelsea’s demand for a £7 million loan fee, with the club reviving negotiations with Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon

Reguilon has now been cleared to travel to Old Trafford to complete medical treatment and establish terms before signing on loan.

The latest news around Shaw, as revealed on It all starts from Mail Sport: Transfer Deadline Special show on Thursday afternoon is the final blow for Ten Hag after the mixed start to the season.

Reguilon, who was loaned to Atletico Madrid last season, appears to have no future at Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou and has not been involved so far this season.

The former Real Madrid player joined Tottenham in 2020, making 67 appearances for the north London club.
