It’s Joe Biden’s favorite spot — his summer home in Delaware, where he left camp dozens of times during his 1,000 days as commander in chief.
As DailyMail.com revealed on Tuesday, he has spent at least 300 of those days in the country’s second-smallest state or on vacation.
He bought the house at a time when it seemed like his political career was over: five months after his vice presidency ended, he was already well into his seventies and had finally decided in 2016 to abandon an attempt to to get the top position.
But now that house in the small town of Rehoboth Beach could prove to be a real embarrassment as Republicans continue their efforts to find business ties between the 46th president and his son Hunter.
DailyMail.com has learned that then-private citizen Biden, who had spent virtually his entire adult life in public service, bought the house for just under $2.75 million – in cash.
And to make the transaction even stranger, it happened within weeks of a highly questionable text message that Hunter sent to Henry Zhao, an employee of Chinese oil giant CEFC, requesting a deal worth $10 million a year to close.
Joe Biden paid almost $2.75 million cash for his second property, DailyMail.com can reveal. The transaction took place within weeks of a questionable text message Hunter Biden sent to a Chinese associate demanding to make a deal worth $10 million a year.
DailyMail.com can reveal that Joe Biden bought his six-bedroom Rehoboth Beach home in June 2017 for $2,744,001 cash
The president’s son was staying at the guest house of Biden’s home in Delaware when he wrote a letter to Communist Party official Henry Zhao on July 30, 2017, threatening him to follow his “orders.”
“I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled,” Hunter Zhao wrote on WhatsApp on July 30, 2017.

He then appears to threaten Zhao – who he calls Z.
“Tell the director I want to resolve this now before it gets out of hand,” he writes at 9:45 am.
“And now means tonight,” he adds, apparently referring to Beijing time, which is twelve hours ahead.
“And Z, if I get a call or text from anyone other than you, Zhang or the chairman involved in this, I will make sure that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever to hold a grudge against you I will regret not following my directions.
He signs off and emphasizes, “Okay my friend, I’m sitting here waiting for the phone call with my father. I really hope that whatever you do is very, very, very important.”
There is no evidence that Joe Biden was actually sitting with his son, but metadata from photos obtained by DailyMail.com of Hunter’s infamously abandoned laptop show that he was at his father’s main home, his Wilmington mansion, on the day the text was sent.
James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee and one of the key figures leading the call for Biden’s impeachment, said the cash house purchase is suspect.
“The fact that Joe Biden bought a luxurious beach house around the same time his family received millions from a CCP-affiliated company raises many questions that need to be answered,” Comer told DailyMail.com.
“The House Oversight Committee will continue to monitor the money trail to determine the extent of President Biden’s involvement in his family’s influence politics and its impact on our national security,” Comer added.

The bombshell texts are just one of dozens of revelations made by two top IRS officials in their sworn testimony before Congress
Sen. Ron Johnson, who along with Sen. Chuck Grassley has spent years investigating Hunter’s shady foreign business dealings, said the transaction “underscores the need” to obtain all of the Bidens’ banking records.
“The Biden crime family’s corruption has been evident for years,” he alleged in a statement to DailyMail.com.
“This is just another piece of evidence that will likely be ignored again by most of the mainstream media. It also underscores the need to obtain all banking information for all Bidens who benefited from Joe and Hunter’s crimes.”
The White House has denied that the president ever “did business” with his son. But aides recently stopped short of claiming the two never discussed Hunter’s foreign dealings.
Property records show Joe’s second six-bedroom property was purchased for $2,744,001 on June 8, 2017 – just seven weeks before his son’s shakedown posts.
No mortgage was recorded on the sale, indicating that Joe paid all the money for his second home.
The Sussex County Recorder has no record of a mortgage on the Rehoboth Beach property until December of last year, when Joe and Jill opened a $250,000 line of credit as security for the property.
His tax records from that time show that he began making much more money than when he was vice president, mostly from sales of his memoi, Promise Me, Dad, and lucrative speaking engagements by him and First Lady Jill Biden.
James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee and one of the key figures leading the call for Biden’s impeachment, said the all-cash house purchase is suspect
First Lady Jill Biden and President Biden have been spending much of their time at their summer home in Delaware and were seen relaxing on the beach in Rehoboth in August
In 2017, Joe’s first year out of office after 36 years in the Senate and another eight years as vice president, the couple declared income of $11 million, and another $4.58 million in 2018.
At the time of Joe’s Rehoboth home purchase, local news site Delaware Online reported that it was purchased “with part of their advance from a multi-book deal.”
But even if the money for the house came from the $11 million he and Jill earned that year according to their tax returns, there are still major discrepancies in the president’s financial disclosures that remain unexplained.
Joe was allegedly bribed by Mykola Zlochevsky, the owner of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, with $5 million, according to information received by a trusted FBI informant.
An analysis published last year by DailyMail.com found a $5.2 million discrepancy between his IRS filings and his Office of Government Ethics’ disclosures for the same period.
Between 2017 and 2019, he and First Lady Jill Biden reported $16.5 million in gross income on their federal tax returns released by the Biden campaign.
The vast majority came from their two companies, CelticCapri Corp and Giacoppa Corp, which they use for speaking and writing assignments.
But in Office of Government Ethics (OGE) filings for the same period, Joe reported only $9.6 million in income for himself and his wife.
Joe had to file OGE reports while he was vice president, and in 2019 after running for president.
Part of the remaining approximately $7 million came from wages the First Lady earned from her teaching job at Northern Virginia Community College and a salary she paid herself from Giacoppa, which the couple did not have to report to the OGE .
But a comparison of the income reported by Joe from his CelticCapri company on OGE reports versus what he told the IRS shows a difference of almost $5,180,071, which is still not accounted for.
This figure is surprisingly similar to the $5 million Joe is said to have been bribed by Mykola Zlochevsky, the owner of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, according to information received by a trusted FBI informant.
In the 2020 account of an agent’s interview with the unnamed informant, which was released by Congress this year, the source alleged that the Ukrainian oligarch bragged about funneling $5 million each to Hunter during a 2016 meeting with Zlochevsky , who was on the board of Burisma. at the time, and Joe, through a complex network of offshore accounts.
The claims remain unproven.
