EXCLUSIVE: ‘I was borderline alcoholic for quite a lot of my 20s’: Adele reveals she gave up drinking three months ago but says: ‘It’s boring. I miss it so much’

Adele revealed she’s been off drinking for three-and-a-half months while speaking on her show in Vegas this weekend.

She claimed that she was a “borderline alcoholic” when she was 20 and admitted that her newfound sobriety was “boring” and admitted that she “misses alcohol”.

Adele, 35, said: “I stopped drinking maybe three and a half months ago. Boring. I mean, I was literally a borderline alcoholic for a lot of my twenties, but I miss it so much. I kicked the caffeine.’

Speaking to a fan who had been drinking all day, she added: ‘So enjoy the whiskey sour. I’m very jealous.’

In March, Adele revealed that she once drank four bottles of wine before lunch during the Covid-19 lockdown.

She held a glass of wine on stage in Las Vegas as she made her confession.

According to the Daily Star, she told fans on Saturday night: “I remember when I came here to Covid, in isolation, it was 11am and I was definitely like four bottles of wine – like all of us.

“I said in 2020 that I want to release my album. And we were all at home just drunk.’

In February 2022, a drunken Adele was left sobbing after drinking too much in a gay bar in London, where she stripped down to her bra, danced on stage in front of topless dancers, fell and addressed the BRIT Awards controversy.

The I Drink Vine singer watched GAI’s Porn Idol event at Heaven in London from the VIP box after turning up at the club’s back door just after midnight to party with a large group of friends, much to the surprise of management.

The Worst singer, who said she quit drinking in October 2021, was seen in tears as fans cheered her on, leaning out of her VIP area to ask a group of revelers on the dance floor: “How does everyone know it’s me ? ‘

During her boozy night out, the superstar decided to get in on the action, storming out of her VIP box to storm the stage where she performed a pole dance as topless dancers looked on in shock.

But despite not drinking for a while, Adele is planning a week of fun between her Vegas shows for her son Angelo, who turns 11 on Thursday.

It’s a quick life change for the singer, who admits most weeks between shows are “boring,” often sequestered in her LA mansion.

But Adele revealed that Angelo, whom she does not imagine, will have a series of events.

Adele revealed at her gig this weekend: “My son turns 11 this week. Can you believe it? We have a busy week ahead of us to celebrate him. He is very similar to me in that I take my birthday very seriously.

“So it’s a week-long or month-long celebration that I think everyone should treat their birthday as.”

“He seems to have adopted the same point of view from an early age, which is not very fun.” He’s my son and obviously I adore him and he’s like “can I do this and that”.

“I’m like ‘that’s very expensive.’ You’re 11, shouldn’t we still be having a tea party? “But you know eleven year olds are 25 in 2023?”

“He is smarter in every way than I and I ever was or ever will be.” It’s my week, so I guess my next week’s update will be, probably be an abused mother!’

Adele has just recovered from being “sick as a dog” after being bedridden for five days with flu.

‘I’m fucking sick. I’m a germaphobe. I haven’t left the house all week.’

But Angelo, whose father is Simon Konecki, can expect to be served Chinese food no matter what he orders.

“I’m going through a real Chinese dumpling phase.” I ate them for lunch. Sounds delicious to have dumplings for breakfast.’
