EXCLUSIVE: ‘He’s the black Tom Ford!’ RHONY star Ubah Hassan gushes over sexy and sophisticated LaQuan Smith collection at New York Fashion Week

‘After I came off the LaQuan Smith show, I feel like I can run the world’ Real Housewives of New York star Ubah Hassan told Daily Mail.

The 6-foot-10 Somali-Canadian model, businesswoman and television personality felt so empowered by the electrifying runway presentation at Lower Manhattan’s magnificent Cipriani Hall that she compared the collection to Tom Ford.

“It was sophisticated, beautiful, glamorous, sexy, friendly, but don’t mess with me,” she said.

“I'm absolutely so happy for him and this collection, and I'm probably going to lose all my rent money if I buy everything from that collection.

“I don’t know if Tom Ford is someone he studied with, but it doesn’t get any bigger than LaQuan Smith.

Smith was taught pattern making and sewing by his grandmother, and credits the late great Andre Leon Talley as his mentor.

“The show was so sexy,” Ubah said as she donned a two-piece, custom-made set that showed off her stunning figure.

“This is what power looks like. Every woman should aspire to dress, walk, talk, look and feel like she stepped out of the LaQuan show.

‘This season my wife is busy and the center of attention. She runs from the office to her evening plans in satin mini dresses, metallic knit dresses and cocktail attire in glazed cire,” said LaQuan Smith

LaQuan’s show notes read:

‘The Fall/Winter 2024 collection is an ode to my office sirens. I was inspired by the unapologetic power and glamor of female power brokers; from 80s Wall Street executives to the vixens of Studio 54.

“This season was an exploration of daywear the LaQuan Smith way. Provocative power suits in rich hues such as navy blue, which is a symbol of financial stability, cotton poplin bodysuits that transition seamlessly from day to night, and sharply tailored overcoats in sumptuous wool.

“She has to go somewhere and it’s going to look damn good when she does all this.”
