Stephen Graham is set to star in Netflix’s new thriller Bodies as he takes on an unexpectedly creepy persona for the role.
The famous English actor, often recognized for his strong Liverpool accent, ditches his accent for the serious thriller as he plays the mysterious Elias Manik.
Based on the fantasy graphic novel by Sy Spencer, the new series centers on four detectives, four timelines and one body.
Set between 1890 and 2053, the crime thriller depicts the same murder occurring multiple times over a period of 150 years.
Created by Paul Tomalin the show is a police procedural with a twist and fans don’t have to wait long until it hits the screens as the show is set to release on Netflix on October 19.
EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK: Stephen Graham ditches his Liverpool accent for a chilling mystery character as he stars in new Netflix thriller Bodies
Creepy: Based on the fantastic graphic novel by Sy Spencer, the new series centers on four detectives, four timelines and one body
When a body – the same body – is found on Longharvest Lane in London’s East End in 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053, a detective from each time period must investigate.
As connections are drawn over the decades, the detectives soon discover that their investigations are linked, and the enigmatic political leader Elias Mannix (Stephen) becomes increasingly central.
Did he play a role in the murder? Or is something far more sinister at play?
To solve the mystery, four detectives must somehow work together and uncover a conspiracy that spans over 150 years.
Little is known about Steven’s character, however, as the tension builds in the dramatic trailer which reveals: ‘The body is from the past, present and future…. It will blow your mind.’
He got his big break in 2000 when he played Tommy in Snatch before securing his breakthrough role as Andrew ‘Combo’ Gascoigne in 2006’s This Is England.
The OBE actor has since gone on to great success in ITV drama Little Boy Blue, BBC drama Line Of Duty and as Andy Jones in 2021’s Boiling Point.
Steven is joined by an all-star cast, including unorthodox Netflix star Shira Haas, who plays future DS detective Iris Maplewood.
