EXCLUSIVE: Eddie Hearn names his favourite venue for staging fights and admits which one fight in history he is desperate to make before providing update on Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank Jr negotiations

Eddie Hearn has opened up on his favorite boxing venue and named the one fight in history he is happy to make happen.

Hearn has organized fights at some of the most iconic venues in the world including, but not limited to, the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the O2 in London and Casino de Monte-Carlo in Monaco.

However, Hearn told Mail Sport which venue is his favorite during an exclusive interview ahead of Joe Cordina’s title fight with Edward Vasquez this weekend.

The Matchroom promoter said: “For me, I love Madison Square Garden. It is the Mecca of boxing.

“Although AJ vs Ruiz wasn’t to our liking, it was an incredible night. Taylor vs Serrano was probably one of my favorite nights.

The two heavyweight stars have been tipped to fight but nothing has been booked

“Then you have Wembley Stadium, Spurs were incredible. Dallas CowBoys we sold out for Canelo vs. Billy Joe Saunders.

“There’s something special about the MGM Grand and T Mobile in Las Vegas. Also here in Monte Carlo.

“But I think I’ll always go to Madison Square Garden. Located in the heart of New York City, it is steeped in history and every time we present a show there it is a true honor.”

When asked if he could ever fight at Madison Square Garden, Hearn said he would choose Conor Benn vs. Chris Eubank Jr.

He told Mail Sport: ‘If I could ever fight in history, it doesn’t matter where at the moment. I just want Conor Benn vs. Chris Eubank Jr.

‘That’s the one I want. I also think maybe Anthony Joshua versus Wilder. I think that fight could very well land in America.

‘We’ll see what happens. But the main arena there really warrants a mega night and a mega fight. If you do it right, there’s nothing else like it.”

Benn cruised to a unanimous decision victory over Rodolfo Orozco in his highly anticipated return to boxing in Orlando on September 23.

Benn was out of the ring for seventeen months after failing two drugs tests ahead of his proposed mega-fight with Eubank Jr last October.

Benn rocked Orozco with some sharp right hands throughout the match, but he had to endure some hairy moments of his own, especially in the eighth round.

But when the final bell sounded, he had done more than enough to mark his return to the sport with a win and set up another fight with Eubank.

When asked how the negotiations with Eubank Jr. progressed, Hearn told Mail Sport: ‘We are just finalizing our agreement with Conor Benn for that particular fight.

‘Kalle does the same with Chris Eubank Jr. Once everyone is satisfied, we can continue the battle.

‘That’s the one I want. I also think maybe Anthony Joshua versus Wilder. I think that fight could land in America,” says Eddie Hearn about the fights he wants to happen

‘We have the location ready for January 27 or February 3. So I don’t think it will last too long now, depending on getting those last deals done. We’re just about ready to go.”

Hearn also talked about how ‘bizarre’ Chris Eubank Snr’s recent comments were after the veteran stated he thought Harlem Eubank should face Benn instead of his son.

Hearn said, “First, he said it was dangerous for his son to compete at 157 pounds.

“So now we’re only going up 3 pounds to get Chris Eubank Jr. the right to fight at 160 pounds.

‘Obviously Chris Eubank Snr is now representing Harlam, so he’s pushing Harlam Eubank for that fight with Benn.

‘It’s bizarre. We’re just focusing on Eubank versus Benn and hopefully we can wrap that up next week.”
