EXCLUSIVE: Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis’ major donor Steven Slembik, who shot his wife before killing himself in parking lot of a Florida burger joint, had been diagnosed bi-polar

The Republican donor from Florida to both Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis, who shot his wife last week before turning the gun on himself, had been diagnosed with bipolar.

Steven Alembik, 72, allegedly tried to kill his wife, psychologist Dawn Polen Silver, last week before shooting himself in the head in the parking lot of a Burger Fi restaurant in Delray Beach, Florida.

Sources tell DailyMail.com that Alembik had a history of mental health problems and was arrested for domestic violence against his first wife five years before shooting his second.

Alembik was a major donor to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former President Donald Trump. He was often embroiled in controversy due to his racist comments.

Photos show Alembik dressed in an American flag suit and posing with Trump, DeSantis and Donald Trump Jr.

Meanwhile, several conservative pundits have expressed shock over his death.

A spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Alembik first shot his wife on October 9 around 8 p.m. as she ran into the restaurant for help.

The sheriff’s office claims Silver was shot several times but was conscious when rescuers arrived on the scene and were able to tell authorities her husband had shot her.

According to her Facebook page, Silver is a clinical psychologist with the Health Care District of Palm Beach County and a specialist in substance abuse treatment.

Karyn Turk, former morning host of Real America’s Voice, told DailyMail.com that she remembers Alembik’s wedding to Silver in March 2019 like it was yesterday

Silver was immediately transported to Delray Medical Center, where she underwent emergency surgery and remains in critical condition. A source close to the couple tells DailyMail.com that Silver is expected to recover.

Alembik, who was also known as a staunch supporter of Israel, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Jennifer Remaland Alembik, Alembik’s ex-wife and the mother of his three daughters, texted a funeral announcement to Republican Party stalwarts Thursday afternoon.

A memorial service was held Friday in nearby Boca Raton.

When reached by phone, she declined to comment and hung up.

Tributes from Trump and DeSantis supporters flooded social media for a man known for wearing tuxedo jackets designed to resemble the flags of the United States and Israel to fancy events.

Karyn Turk, former morning host of Real America’s Voice, told DailyMail.com that she remembers Alembik’s wedding to Silver in March 2019 like it was yesterday.

“I have known Steven for over a decade and I attended his wedding and his daughters’ bat mitzvahs, and I am shocked to hear what happened,” Turk said. ‘They always seemed happy together. I send my prayers to his family. He was a great father.”

Former U.S. Congressional candidate and conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer, who was advised by Alembik in her 2020 campaign, tweeted that Alembik struggled with mental health issues and confirmed he died by suicide.

Turk also said she heard that Alembik and his wife had been separated for weeks.

“People will probably be judgmental,” Loomer wrote. “I hope he is remembered for all the good he did throughout his life, as opposed to the darkness and tragedy that surrounded his last moments on this planet.”

Alembik started the political data company SMA Communications LLC in 2006, according to the company’s website.

It worked primarily for Republican organizations, including Newsmax, the Tea Party, the National Rifle Association, the Second Amendment Foundation, Turning Point USA and Truth About Israel.

Outside of his business, however, Alembik had become a toxic personality who would forever be associated with a 2018 tweet in which he called then-President Barack Obama the n-word and caused DeSantis to distance himself from him.

Alembik was a major donor to DeSantis’ first campaign for governor, having poured $22,920 into the future governor’s war chest.

Alembik admitted that he wrote the tweet calling Obama an af***ing MUSLIM N*****.”

In March 2018, Alembik told reporters that he wrote the tweet out of anger over Obama’s claims that the Republican Party had become home to the politics of division and resentment, claiming that he was not a racist but “an emotional human being.”

“So someone like Chris Rock can go on stage and use the work, and it’s not a problem,” Alembik told Politico at the time. “But a white man says it and he’s a racist? Real? I grew up in New York in the 1950s. We were the kings. They were the n******. They were the g**im. And they were the bastards.”

Alembik organized several black-tie fundraisers for Israeli causes at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, at a time when Trump’s own racist tweets caused dozens of nonprofits to cancel events there.

One of Alembik’s galas for a group he founded called The Truth About Israel was featured in a 2019 DailyMail.com exclusive about how wealthy Chinese tourists paid $20,000 for Alembik’s $1,000 tickets just to get into the club from Trump.

Alembik’s galas were organized around the time a 33-year-old Chinese woman suspected of espionage was arrested on the premises with four mobile phones, two passports, a laptop and a USB stick containing malware.

Palm Beach County court papers paint a picture of Alembik as a violent man who was arrested for domestic violence against his ex-wife and saw his guns confiscated.

Court records show that Alembik divorced Jennifer Alembik in 2014 after 14 years of marriage.

In December 2018, Jennifer filed a petition for protection from domestic violence, claiming Steven attacked her when she went to his house to pick up their daughters and pushed her to the ground.

Jennifer alleged in the petition that she and their daughters were threatened by Alembik for years, including when Jennifer was pregnant.

The petition revealed that Steven was taking undisclosed medications for mental health issues.

According to Jennifer, he was also licensed to carry weapons and owned two.

Ultimately, a family court judge banned Steven from coming within 500 feet of Jennifer and her home and ordered him to communicate with her about their children only by email and to give up his weapons.

Alembik was later arrested by Boca Raton police in connection with the pushing and charged with misdemeanor assault.

The witness was one of their daughters, who had just turned thirteen.

He initially pleaded not guilty and was placed in a first-time offender program, where the charges would disappear if he stayed out of trouble for six months. He was also ordered to undergo anger management counseling.

He successfully completed the program in July 2019 and was given his weapons back, according to public records.
