EXCLUSIVE – Danny Masterson’s wife Bijou speaks to him ‘DAILY’ and is ‘still very much in love with’ the convicted rapist: Couple is trying to be ‘transparent’ with their nine-year-old daughter about her dad’s case without ‘getting into the nitty gritty’

Danny Masterson speaks ‘daily’ from prison to his wife Bijou Phillips and their nine-year-old daughter Fianna, with the actress and model ‘still very much in love with him’ – despite his double rape conviction.

Masterson, 47, was sentenced to 30 years behind bars last week, three months after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting two women in 2003, and his wife Bijou, 43, was by his side during the trial.

Now a source has told DailyMail.com that she is determined to ‘be there for her husband’ while he is in lockdown and be ‘as transparent as possible’ with their daughter.

The insider added that she is “eager” to begin the “appeal process” and that she is hopeful that the “results of his sentence will be drastically changed or overturned.”

“She is still very hopeful that things will change and he will be free,” the insider said.

They explained that the couple “answers all their daughter’s questions, but they don’t get into the nitty-gritty.”

They continued, “It’s extremely emotional and heavy, and harping on it is emotionally draining. The times Danny talks to his daughter and Bijou; it is always about something other than the obvious.

‘He keeps trying to reassure them that it will be OK. Many tears have been shed, but they use the time to talk to each other about school and other matters. There will come a time and place to fully flesh out her daughter, but that is still a work in progress.”

As for how Phillips will manage financially while Masterson serves his sentence, the insider revealed that things would be going well for the actress and her daughter for the foreseeable future.

The source stated, “When it comes to money, Danny didn’t make as much money as he did in his heyday, but he still has a good chunk of money saved from his time on That 70’s Show.

‘Bijou is also a good saver of the work she has done. They never showed any signs of financial difficulty as Danny did what he had to do for himself and his family to survive, while acting jobs were not that common over the years and he also had to pay lawyers.”

The insider explained that financial matters are Phillips’ “least” concern, as they continued: “Danny is still fighting, but Bijou and her daughter should be doing well in the near future in terms of living arrangements and will not be destitute.

‘In addition to Danny’s friends and family, Bijou has many family and friends who are happy to help if there is a chance that Bijou will fall on hard times. But right now the least of her worries is financial.”

Bijou is visiting him “whenever there’s a chance” and seems to lean on her husband’s family for support.

Masterson had two trials. His first, six months earlier, resulted in a mistrial after another jury was hopelessly deadlocked on all three rape charges.

He was released on $3.3 million bail in both cases, but that freedom ended with his double conviction on May 31.

The actor has since been locked up in the infamous Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles.

Masterson’s victims tearfully told the court how he had destroyed their lives.

“You are pathetic, crazy and extremely violent and the world is a safer place with you in prison,” said Jane Doe #2, looking straight at the actor, wearing a gray suit and open-necked shirt.

“You are a complete coward and a heartless monster,” Jane Doe #1 added. “I think life in prison is an appropriate sentence.”

His accusers – whom DailyMail.com identifies only as Jane Does 1 through 3 – are all former Scientologists.

They have also taken the actor and the Church of Scientology to civil court, claiming they have been harassed and intimidated since reporting him to the police.

A status hearing on that civil case is currently scheduled for September 26.

A source previously told DailyMail.com that Bijou is a “shell of who she has been” and feels like she is mourning a death.
