EXCLUSIVE: Alice Evans ‘cannot pay her rent or afford to buy food’ as her marathon divorce fight with actor Ioan Gruffudd continues – as it’s revealed she could take a job at Starbucks

Actress Alice Evans is in financial trouble – and has told friends she can’t pay her rent or afford food and is considering taking a job at Starbucks.

Evans, 55, is embroiled in a marathon divorce battle with actor Ioan Gruffudd.

She has told friends that the money she got from the sale of the marital home, believed to be $100,000, is all gone, much of it to lawyers, and that she is now in financial crisis.

A friend said: ‘Alice is extremely upset and says she can’t afford the rent when it’s due later this month – at least not if they want to eat – and has just hit a financial low. She says she has nothing, not even health insurance.”

They continued: ‘She has been told to get a job, but she has not found any acting work and in any case she has to look after their school-age children.

“This week she talked about getting a job at Starbucks, but she thinks they might not want her because at 55 she’s probably too old for them. Also, her agent doesn’t want her to do it, in case it looks bad.”

The friend added: “She feels desperate and has no idea how to get along. She cried herself to sleep.’

She and Gruffudd have divorced, but custody, spousal support and child support have yet to be settled and the next hearing in the case will take place in March next year.

Unfortunately, she continues to be targeted on social media, especially on X, formerly Twitter, and on the gossip website Tattle Life.

On November 12, she posted images of her children and wrote: ‘PS: hey cakes – we are SO happy and you are a sad bunch of pigs. Anyone who wants to know what a loser is should check out Tattle.Life – honestly, you need a shower!’

Her life imploded two years ago after the seemingly sudden end of her marriage to Gruffudd, whom she met on the set of the film 101 Dalmatians.

Evans announced on Twitter in January 2021: “Sad news. My beloved husband/soulmate of 20 years, Ioan Gruffudd, has announced that he will be leaving his family from next week.

‘Me and our young daughters are very confused and sad. We weren’t given a reason other than he “no longer loves me”. I’m very sorry.’

Gruffudd, known for the ITV drama Liar and the Fantastic Four film, went public in October 2021 with new girlfriend Bianca Wallace, an aspiring actress who starred as an extra in the drama Harrow which was filmed in Australia.

They now live together in Los Angeles. Evans lives with their daughters Elsie and Ella.

In June 2022, she launched a Go Fund Me page asking for $25,000 to try to pay her bills, saying, “I never thought in a million years I would be doing this.” But in August 2020, just as the pandemic was really taking hold, my whole world came crashing down.

“Since that date, I have struggled not only as a single mother with my babies, but also with paying bills, food, and legal fees (ha! don’t even talk to me about legal fees), which has pushed all other expenses in my life into it doesn’t fall. life and ended up emptying everything: savings, bills, retirement, everything.

‘Yesterday all my bills were gone and I couldn’t buy anything. The same day, my husband’s lawyer sent me a letter telling me to appear in court on August 2 to plead “my case” in the divorce. I currently have no lawyer and no money to pay for one.

“If I don’t come to court, I will be held in contempt, and I have no idea what will happen to me or my children at that point.”

In August this year, a judge granted Gruffudd’s request to appoint a child psychiatrist ‘evaluator’

Following the hearing in August 2022, she was granted a restraining order after Gruffudd argued her social media posts were false and amounted to harassment.

Gruffudd said he had received hundreds of messages, adding: ‘Alice threatened to tell people I had abused her and our daughters, threatened to call the police if I didn’t meet her demands… threatened to tell people I was. a drug addict and put me in jail… threatened to write a fake diary featuring an abused victim and have the diary published; and… threatened to destroy my mother.”

Evans said in the court papers: ‘I have not hit, punched, assaulted, threatened, assaulted, harassed, followed, stalked, harassed, destroyed the personal property of, supervised, impersonated, blocked the movement of, annoyed by the telephone or electronic means of repeated contact, or disturbance of the peace [of Gruffudd or Wallace].’

Evans now believes she cannot speak about her situation in the press or post on social media as it risks violating her restraining order and could lead to a criminal trial.

In June this year, daughter Ella filed a restraining order against Gruffudd after a disagreement during a custody visit at the home he shares with Wallace. This was later withdrawn.

In August this year, a judge granted Gruffudd’s request to appoint a child psychiatrist ‘evaluator’.

Judge Stinn issued a written order requiring Evans to take Ella and Elsie to one-on-one individual sessions once a week with a therapist to be chosen by the girls’ court-appointed attorney.

In addition, the judge ordered Evans to take the girls separately to weekly meetings with their father and “reunification therapist” Karin Manger – who will also guide Evans in separate therapy sessions.

Judge Stinn warned both Evans and Gruffudd not to shoot each other in front of the girls during therapy sessions.

“Neither party shall, directly or indirectly, make derogatory comments about or disparage the other party before or within the hearing of the minor children,” the judge wrote in his ruling.
