Exciting news for Sizzler and all-you-can-eat fans with Brisbane pop-up
Beloved all-you-can-eat restaurant Sizzler is making a long-awaited comeback, reopening for one night only, four years after the last branch closed its doors.
Former staff will be in uniform serving up iconic dishes from the restaurant’s glory days at a pop-up restaurant in Brisbane on Tuesday.
The cultural icon closed its doors for good in 2020 after serving cheese toast, grilled steaks and salads for thirty years.
Since then, Sizzler fans have attempted to recreate some of the popular menu items or opted for knock-off versions of the cult cheese toast, which went viral on social media.
Fritzenberger, a popular Brisbane eatery, has purchased an original Sizzler cheese toasting machine and is now serving the iconic dish to customers.
Following its huge success, Robin Bailey and Kip Wightman, presenters of the KIIS 97.3 morning show, announced they will be launching the pop-up.
Listeners of The Robin and Kip Show have a chance to win tickets to enjoy the brand’s iconic pumpkin soup, potato skins, cheese toast, the brand’s signature salad bar and a dessert bar complete with soft serve ice cream machine.
Sizzler fans were left salivating when the radio duo shared the news on social media this week.

‘I wanted to go so badly and I was lucky enough to win a double prize [pass] “That made my year,” someone said.
“I would pay a lot of money to get a seat,” wrote another.
“Table for two please,” a third person remarked.
“Please take me there,” wrote another.
In the run-up to the big night, Robin and Kip have been busy tasting the menu items that the pop-up diners will enjoy, claiming that it ‘tastes just like Sizzler’.
A Brisbane restaurant has acquired an original toaster from Sizzler’s Maroochydore restaurant after it closed
Last month, Fritzenberger bought an original toaster from the Sizzler’s Maroochydore restaurant at auction after the restaurant closed.
“The team was very excited to purchase the machine and offer this iconic item to our customers,” a spokesperson said The courier post.
Chef Sebastian Calais said they have stayed true to the iconic recipe, but use higher quality ingredients.
The first Sizzler opened 39 years ago in the Brisbane suburb of Annerley and by 1993 had grown to 38 restaurants across the country.
Parent company Collins Foods made the “difficult decision” to close its last nine restaurants during the pandemic.
