Excess deaths in Australia are 11.3 per cent above average – and it’s not because of Covid

Australia’s death rate remains well above norm, with a rise in deadly diseases other than Covid leaving doctors baffled.

There were 14,578 deaths recorded in Australia in March, about 1,647 more than would be expected according to the historical average for that month.

This means the number of ‘deaths’ was 11.3 per cent above the norm, also taking into account factors such as an aging population, according to figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday.

Of those 1,647 additional deaths, only 247 were certified as directly attributable to Covid.

Another 117 died “with” the disease, meaning they had other serious conditions in addition to the virus that may have caused their deaths.

Deaths increased further from heart disease (up nearly 20 percent from the historical average), flu and pneumonia (up 17 percent), dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease (up 12.5 percent percent) and cancer (8.3 percent).

Excess deaths, the death rate above the historical norm, continue to reach alarming levels in Australia

The main populations that died in greater numbers were men over 85 and women over 75.

For the year to March, Australia’s death rate was 11.8 percent above the historical norm, with 4,451 more deaths than normal.

This is an improvement from the 2022 calendar year, when the death rate was 15 percent above average, with an additional 25,235 deaths.

That alarming jump led to a Senate motion sponsored by Victorian UAP Senator Ralph Babet in April to investigate why Australians are dying in such high numbers.

The move was voted down by the government and senators, including the Greens.

Senator Gerard Rennick has called for a parliamentary inquiry into the ongoing excess deaths

Queensland LNP Senator Gerard Rennick, who voted in favor of the inquiry, told Daily Mail Australia on Thursday that it was still badly needed.

“We need an investigation because we have a significant number of excess deaths and we need to know why these deaths occurred.”

In September last year, the head of Australia’s doctors’ organisation, the Australian Medical Association (AMA), admitted doctors were baffled by the spate of deaths.

“Some research needs to be done into why this is happening,” AMA president Professor Steve Robson told Daily Mail Australia.

He pointed out some ‘probable factors’ that could be a hangover from the Covid period of isolation and restrictions where people could not see a doctor due to risk of infection or were afraid to go to a doctor.

“People have been avoiding going to the doctor for regular checkups or talking about a problem with their health or have been delaying a visit to the doctor and seeing their condition worsen as a result,” said Prof Robson.

“We need to do more to prepare the health system, both to deal with the impact of Covid on things like waiting lists, but also to deal with patients who have delayed access to care and now need more serious intervention.”

In Australia’s most locked-down state of Victoria, more than 6,000 cancer cases are estimated to have been missed during the lockdown periods between April 2020 and April 2022, according to the Cancer Council Victoria.

Prof Robson noted that the number of deaths in Britain is about 10 per cent higher since the Covid pandemic, which has become a major political issue.

Senator Rennick called for an investigation to also investigate whether the Covid vaccines contributed to the extra deaths.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) says that while the lifesaving jabs are safe, about 1-2 in every 100,000 people who receive a vaccine have developed the heart conditions myocarditis and pericarditis.

In April, a landmark class action lawsuit was filed against the Australian Government, the TGA and the Department of Health.

The nationwide lawsuit, which reportedly has 500 members, seeks redress for those allegedly injured or robbed by the Covid vaccines.

“The TGA and regulators around the world continue to monitor and analyze Covid-19 vaccine safety data from hundreds of millions of people, as well as the latest evidence from clinical trials and peer-reviewed medical literature,” a TGA spokesperson previously told Daily Mail Australia .

“This information continues to overwhelmingly support the safe and effective use of Covid-19 vaccines.”

WHY VACCINES ARE IMPORTANT

Vaccination is a simple, safe and effective way to protect people against harmful diseases before they come into contact with them.

Vaccination not only protects individuals, but also others in the community, by reducing the spread of preventable diseases.

Research and testing are an essential part of developing safe and effective vaccines.

In Australia, vaccines must pass rigorous safety testing before the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) registers them for use. Vaccine approval can take up to 10 years.

Before vaccines become available to the public, they are tested in thousands of people in large clinical trials.

For many years, high-quality studies have compared the health of large numbers of vaccinated and unvaccinated children. Medical information from nearly 1.5 million children around the world has confirmed that vaccination does not cause autism.

People first became concerned about autism and immunization after the medical journal The Lancet published an article in 1998. This article claimed that there was a link between the measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine and autism.

Since then, scientists have completely discredited this article. The Lancet retracted it in 2010 and printed an apology. The British General Medical Council removed the author from the medical register for misconduct and dishonesty.
