The feud between Sex And The City co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall became almost as famous as the iconic opening credits tutu, the passion for Cosmopolitan cocktails and the endless weekend brunches.
However, with Cattrall returning for a cameo in the second series of the show’s sequel And Just Like That, it seems her co-star Parker is finally seeking peace.
Parker, 58, has finally broken her silence on the return of her old foe, calling the return of Cattrall, 66 “really fun and exciting and definitely nostalgic,” adding: “It’s been a lot of fun.”
The two women talk to each other on the phone in the upcoming series, which premieres this Thursday. Sources indicate they didn’t have to share a studio space or even talk to film the scene.
Co-star Evan Handler, who plays Harry Goldenblatt, said Cattrall filmed her role “in a garage” in March and did not communicate with any of them.

However, the fact that Cattrall agrees to appear seems to indicate a thawing of relations and has already been greeted with joy by the show’s many fans.
Viewers previously complained that the absence of maneater PR Samantha Jones changed the tone of the show.
Parker said, “We thought really hard about the ways we, you know, approached characters that weren’t there, the ways we invited actors back and it was, you know, really fun and exciting and definitely nostalgic, but I think more than that, it’s been a lot of joy.’
But Kristen Davis, who plays fellow show leader Charlotte Goldenblatt, indicates that the four main cast members have always been divided — and that Cattrall’s cameo doesn’t mean there’s a “closure” or “resolution” to the feud.
She said, “I think sometimes you really have friends in life who are very different from you. And I love that. Right?…
“And I think that’s what was so great about the four of us, because obviously Charlotte had a very different perspective than Samantha, and Carrie and Miranda sometimes…
“We all represented different points of view at different times, and sometimes argued, you know, and sometimes we didn’t do it the way friends do…
“I don’t know if there’s necessarily a closure or resolution, those are like big things that I don’t know we went for…

Happy days: Cattrall agreeing to appear, however, seems to indicate some thawing of relations and has already been greeted with joy by the show’s many fans
“We just thought it would be nice for the fans to have a little bit of Samantha because we know they miss her and she’s a great character.”
Kristen continued, “I don’t know if we’re even trying to close at this point, or to find a solution. I think we just thought, you know, here’s, you know, our character gone. And we know people miss her and Carrie misses her…
And wouldn’t it be great to have a little bit of her, you know, that’s what we wanted. And then I think maybe hope has been lifted, possibly higher than that. And that was not our intention. So I hope people aren’t disappointed.’
In an interview with Vanity Fair magazine published last week, actress Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda Hobbes, said the atmosphere on set was very awkward when Cattrall was in the cast.
She said, “It makes a huge difference not walking on eggshells with someone who is unhappy for reasons that are hard to understand.”
Parker and Cattrall were never friends and reports suggest that a three to one split quickly developed between the four main female characters, leaving Cattrall feeling isolated.
The arrival of Parker’s friend Michael Patrick King as producer, and Parker’s elevation to executive producer, with more money, would also have been a problem.
In 2004, when the series ended, it was noticed that Cattrall was sitting apart from the others at the Emmy Awards. She said, ‘Are we the best of friends? No. We are professional actresses. We have our own separate lives.’
By the time of the first SATC film in 2009, Parker and Cattrall were said to be no longer talking to each other, though both denied the reports of friction.
Then tensions arose over a desire for a third film, which Cattrall was not interested in.
Cattrall told Piers Morgan on Life Stories, “I really think she could have been nicer.”
After Cattrall’s brother died in 2018, Parker shared condolences via Instagram.
Cattrall hit back: “Constantly reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already). You are not my family. You are not my friend.’
Chris Noth, who played Parker’s husband in And Just Like That, said in 2021: “I wish it all never happened because it was sad and uncomfortable…
“I just don’t like it when someone talks down about SJ because she’s a target and people can be mean. I feel very protective of her and I was not happy about that.
It’s back! And Just Like That… returns later this week for a second season
