Ex-Philadelphia Eagles star Hugh Douglas has paid a heartbreaking tribute to his 20-year-old son who tragically died in a horror accident with his college roommate.
Hugh Douglas, who shared the same name as his father, and Christion Files Jr., also 20, were killed in a collision after their vehicle lost control before crashing head-on into two power poles and flipping over in East Point, southwest of Atlanta. , on Monday afternoon.
The pair were close friends and would graduate from Morehouse College, Atlanta, in 2025 Philadelphia researcher reported.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, the former NFL star posted a series of touching photos from Hugh’s childhood, saying, “You were already a better man than me.”
In a stream of images, father and son can be seen together when Hugh was a baby until his college days. One touching image shows Mr. Douglas hugging his son as they both laugh together.

In response to the thousands of people who expressed their condolences to Mr Douglas and his family, he said: ‘I appreciate all your well wishes. right now, but i’m a little overwhelmed. But know that I appreciate all the love.’
Kevin Booker, vice president of student services and dean of the university, also posted a tribute to the two young men.
He said, “Hugh Douglas was an exceptional student who showed tremendous dedication and promise in pursuing a business administration degree with a focus on finance.
Christion Files Jr. was a remarkable young man who made his mark both inside and outside the classroom. He studied business administration with a focus on marketing.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of Hugh & Christion. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this incredibly challenging time.”
After retiring from the NFL, Mr. Douglas hosted the afternoon show on Philadelphia-based radio station 94WIP.
“We would like to extend our deepest condolences to @Bighugh53 of 94WIP and his entire family as his son Hugh Douglas tragically passed away yesterday. Our hearts are heavy for Hugh and his family,” the channel wrote on X.
On yesterday’s show Joe Giglio, co-presenter of Mr Douglas, said: ‘Every time I spoke to Hugh about his children, he spoke so enthusiastically about (his son) Hugh.
“When I heard it, it touched me in so many ways. I’m sad for Hugh. As a parent, this is the worst thing you can hear,” he said, according to the newspaper NY Post.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said on Tuesday: “We really think about them a lot – Hugh and his ex-wife Simona. We just want to express our condolences.
“It’s tragic, very tragic. And I was told that the young man was an incredible child,” he said, according to the newspaper Philadelphia researcher.
Mr. Douglas, a three-time Pro Bowler, played ten years in the NFL for the Jets, Eagles and Jaguars. In 2004 he retired.
