Ex On The Beach star Chet Johnson responds to ex Helen Briggs’ claims he cheated on her – following their split after eight years together

Helen Briggs’ ex Chet Johnson has responded to her claims that he cheated on her, after revealing they had split amid a series of allegations.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the Ex On The Beach star, 33, furiously denied cheating on his ex-girlfriend of eight years, insisting they end their relationship after growing apart.

Chet wrote, “I just want to comment on the recent social media post Helen wrote. First of all, I didn’t cheat. I want to clear that up right away.

“Me and Helen have had to deal with abuse and lies from so many internet trolls over the years that it has put a constant strain on the relationship.

“As much as this has been a problem, we have also grown apart, especially over the past two years, I am really doing everything I can to provide for my family. If you know me, you know just how much I do for them.’

Chet continued, “I love my family and my children more than anything in this world and wouldn’t do something stupid like that. Helen is also the most wonderful mother to my children, but when it comes to two people in love, we are just two different people now.

Finally, I really don’t appreciate the amount of abuse I’m getting right now, people telling me to kill myself when I’m currently trying to come to terms with such an upsetting situation.

“Unfortunately, I feel compelled to make this statement. All I want to do now is focus on building a kind and loving family life for my children.

“I really don’t want this to be a me versus Helen situation, she is the mother of my kids and doesn’t want any more stress on her and the kids.

Appreciate the real people who didn’t judge or jump to conclusions. I will not talk about b******t moving forward in regards to my family life anymore.

His message was shared hours after Helen confirmed that she had divorced Chet and accused him of cheating on her in an explosive statement.

The couple, who share three young children, were reunited in the fourth series of Ex On The Beach in 2016, where Chet described her as ‘the one who escaped’.

In a statement confirming their split, Helen claimed that she endured “endless” accusations of cheating throughout their romance, while explaining why they broke up.

She claimed she has now seen “evidence” that Chet cheated on her earlier this month, describing the alleged incident as the “last straw.”

She wrote, “I want to let everyone know that I have made the decision to finally leave Chet. I endured endless accusations of cheating throughout our eight year relationship and while it wasn’t easy to deal with I always chose to believe him and ignore the rumors because it was easier to do although every time my heart broke a little more inside.

‘But eventually I was presented with the evidence to prove that he was undoubtedly cheating on me in Devon in early July. This is something I cannot ignore.

“This has turned out to be the last straw and I’m making this choice because I know it’s best for myself, my children and our future.

“Chet can go on living his life the way he wants, but the difference will be that it won’t be at the expense of my feelings anymore.”

Helen went on to say her focus will be on raising their three children – Ocean, four, Elvis, three, and Peach, seven months.

“My main focus is and will continue to be my children and I will focus on starting my journey as a single mother of three,” she continued.

“I would appreciate everyone respecting my privacy at this very difficult time as it is something I am trying to process on my own and I will need time to heal from it.

“I still have a long way to go before I finally find my happiness, but I know I will get there one day.”

Helen has seemingly removed all photos of her and Chet together from her Instagram grid and only shows him in a few rare photos of him with their kids.

MailOnline reached out to Chet’s representatives for comment.

The news comes months after Helen and Chet welcomed their third child together, daughter Peach, in December 2022.

At the time, Helen took to Instagram to confirm that their daughter had arrived, following a dramatic birth, which Chet missed due to illness.

Announcing the news, Helen wrote, “Peach Johnson. Welcome to the world… You are everything and more, the perfect addition to our growing family. Born December 21, 2022 – 7lb 2oz.’

The TV personality gave birth to her baby girl via C-section on Dec. 21 and shared the happy news with her 644,000 Instagram followers over Christmas.

Helen wrote on her Instagram stories, “Just wanted to give you all a little update on why we’ve been so quiet here.

‘A week before I was due to give birth, I was hit by a cold/cough that everyone has.

“Luckily I got better just in time to have the baby, but Chet and the kids have it much worse than me. So they have all been bedridden with this disease.

“I had to take my mother to our daughter’s birth because Chet was so unwell at the time.

“Then she had to fire right back to help Chet with Ocean and Elvis, it’s been a really rough week.

‘But me, Chet and the kids are on the mend, the baby is perfect and healthy here. I am now back home and recovering very well. My C-section was amazing and couldn’t have gone better!

We have the perfect gift just in time for Christmas. Thank you all for the kind and sweet messages.”

Helen announced her pregnancy in August with a sweet Instagram post, as she and boyfriend Chet prepare to become parents of three under three.

The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Ocean, on November 11, 2019 after Helen endured a 22-hour labour.

The couple welcomed son Elvis a year later on December 27, 2020.

Helen won hearts in the fourth series of Ex On The Beach after reuniting with ex Chet, who described her romantically as ‘the one who got away’.
