Ex-NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo becomes highest-profile Democrat to attack Biden yet as he shares scathing words about 81 year-old president’s frailty and campaign
Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was the latest and perhaps most prominent Democrat to denounce Joe Biden’s re-election campaign.
Cuomo, who was forced to resign from the governor’s office in 2023 over sexual harassment claims, was critical of the president and his fellow Democrats on several issues on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher Friday.
Maher – who qualified because he believes the 81-year-old Biden is too old and should have dropped out – wanted Cuomo’s analysis of the campaign he is running now that it appears he will remain in the race.
“Frankly, I don’t think he’s running a particularly good campaign,” Cuomo said. “I think there’s a big question he needs to answer, which is his age and viability.”
Cuomo, 66, said Biden’s campaign and advisers must make the president public if they have any chance of convincing the public that he is capable of serving another term.

“I think the only way you can answer that is to get out there and let people see you,” he said. “That’s the only way you can put it to rest. I don’t think you can hide from that.’
Despite being slightly older than 78-year-old opponent Donald Trump, Biden is constantly confronted with questions about his age and health.
The president has faced criticism from the media and his opponent Trump for a series of recent blunders, including several public moments when Biden appeared to freeze completely.
Only 38 percent of likely voters in 2024 believe President Joe Biden will still be alive at the end of a new four-year term, according to an exclusive poll for DailyMail.com.
And that means one thing: Vice President Kamala Harris is just as likely to take the top job in January 2029 as Biden if he is re-elected.
About 36 percent of likely voters believe Harris will be president at the end of the term. The exact same share I think Biden will get the job.
The results show that the 81-year-old president’s age will be a major factor on Nov. 5, when voters choose the commander in chief they want for the next four years.
Biden would be 86 at the end of a second term. Donald Trump, his Republican rival, is only slightly younger, but voters harbor fewer doubts, with Trump generally perceived to have a more youthful energy.

Cuomo also attacked Biden and fellow Democrats Kathy Hochul — who took over his job as governor of the Empire State after resigning — and New York Mayor Eric Adams over immigration.
‘[Biden’s] The immigration policy was a mistake,” Cuomo said. ‘How you do it makes all the difference in the world.’
‘To just open the borders without a plan, you don’t know where they’re going, you don’t know who’s going to pay for it. Who did you even help?’
He criticized Adams and Hochul for not saying no to Biden’s ideas without a plan in place.
“Now we find out 200,000 people later that you needed a plan, you needed to know what to do with these people.”
He also criticized the Manhattan district attorney’s office for bringing a case against Trump, which resulted in convictions on all 34 counts.
Cuomo has faced his own problems with a Democratic-led justice system following the harassment scandal that cost him his job.
He allegedly exposed at least 13 women to a sexually hostile work environment, according to a DOJ investigation published in January.
Cuomo also attacked Biden and fellow Democrats Kathy Hochul — who took over his job as governor of the Empire State after resigning — and New York Mayor Eric Adams over immigration.

The disgraced ex-leader ‘repeatedly’ harassed employees and retaliated against those who reported it.
Investigators found Cuomo made “unwelcome, non-consensual sexual contact,” including “ogling”; unwanted sexual comments; gender-based nicknames; comments about their physical appearance; and/or preferential treatment based on their physical appearance.”
Cuomo — hailed as a hero for much of 2020 for his cold-blooded response to the COVID crisis — was once touted as a potential presidential candidate.
The sex harassment allegations seemed to end Cuomo’s political career, but in recent months he has returned to the spotlight.
Cuomo’s attorney Rita Glavin rejected the report’s findings, saying he had not been contacted for comment and that he had not sexually harassed anyone.
She told the New York Times: “This is nothing more than a political settlement without investigation.”
Cuomo has filed a lawsuit to try to get New York State Attorney General Letitia James to release the full papers of her investigation into him.
