A former NSW Labor MP is set to join One Nation ahead of the state election on the grounds that her previous party is too awake.

Tania Mihailuk, a member of Bankstown, revealed Tuesday night that she would seek support from members to join One Nation, led by Mark Latham, and run as a candidate in the March state election.

As a proud Christian and staunch supporter of the fight against corruption, she said One Nation is the only political party with the ability to speak up for issues that matter to people like her.

“Chris Minns (pictured) as Prime Minister and a Labor government will see New South Wales wake up and go bankrupt,” Mihailuk said.

“I know the real agenda of the people currently sitting in Chris Minns’ front bench: they are far left.”

The former Bankstown mayor left Labor in October after being sacked from the shadow cabinet.

It followed a clash with Minns over comments Mihailuk made linking Labor’s upper house candidate Khal Asfour to disgraced party leader Eddie Obeid.

Ms Mihailuk attacked Mr Asfour, raising concerns under parliamentary privilege over what she claimed were his “unprincipled actions to further the interests of developers”.

After being removed from the shadow cabinet, Ms Mihailuk said the NSW Labor Party had not “cleaned up their act”.

“He is not ready to govern and as a consequence I will now resign from the Labor Party,” he said at the time.

In Tuesday’s statement, Ms Mihailuk said she was strongly opposed to drug legalization and the teaching of gender fluidity in schools, which she said was favored by leading Shadow Labor ministers.

“The Labor Party has sadly lost its way to left-wing extremists and the mob of property developers who have taken over Labor like a cancer with their keen views and political donations,” he said.

‘One Nation is not afraid to focus on the issues that matter to families. An education system that focuses on the basics that are important to moms and dads: literacy, numeracy, history and the humanities: real common sense skills that lead to jobs instead of left-wing indoctrination.’
