Former NFL star cornerback Vontae Davis struck a plea deal with prosecutors in Broward County, Florida after driving his vehicle while intoxicated.

According to court documents, Davis and his attorneys agreed to plead no contest to reckless driving and were sentenced to 12 months’ probation.

He was also sentenced to 50 hours of community service and to pay fines and fees to cover the medical bills of those injured in the crash.

In February, Davis crashed his black Tesla into the back of a Toyota pickup on a South Florida highway.

Pictures obtained by TMZ shows Davis sleeping with his arms under his head, wearing a mint green ensemble as the wreckage of both cars lies nearby.

Witnesses also told TMZ that Davis continued to sleep — even as emergency responders walked around him — until police placed him in the back of a squad car.

Even then, Davis appeared to be struggling to stay awake – with footage showing him sleeping in his chair.

A spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol said TMZ that first responders arrived at the scene of a car crash involving two vehicles on State Road 821 on Saturday, February 4, around 7:51 a.m.

When police made contact with Davis, they said, as revealed by TMZ, “Your eyes are bloodshot. Your speech is unclear. You can barely stay awake. Okay? You almost killed someone.”

Officers asked Davis if he had been drinking alcohol, to which he replied, “Yes, I had two drinks.” Two mixed drinks.”

Police then requested that Davis take a standard field sobriety test, but the first round in 2009 declined.

There was significant damage to the front and rear of Davis’ black Tesla, while a pickup truck – a Toyota – suffered damage to the rear.

In its report of the incident, police said the 34-year-old lost control of his vehicle and caused the crash.

Authorities also said the crash was so forceful that the pickup truck was able to strike a nearby pedestrian.

The pedestrian was then immediately taken to hospital with multiple injuries. The identity of the person was not revealed by local police in the immediate aftermath of the incident.
