Ex-NFL star Plaxico Burress asks Ja Morant to ‘learn from me’ amid strip club gun shame

Plaxico Burress asks Ja Morant to “learn from me” amid strip club gun shaming… after the former NFL star derailed his own career by accidentally shooting himself in the leg at a New York bar

Former NFL star receiver Plaxico Burress is imploring Ja Morant to learn from his past mistakes when it comes to firearms.

The former New York Giant and Jet reacted to Morant’s recent Instagram Live video showing the Memphis Grizzlies point guard waving what appears to be a gun.

Colorado police are now investigating Morant after the video was released to see if he potentially violated any laws, such as possession of a firearm under the influence.

Burress said the young superstar should ‘learn from me’ so as not to ruin his future and potential.

“If you can’t learn anything, learn from me,” Burress said on Tuesday’s episode of “The Carton Show.”

“Make better decisions because you really don’t want him to have that label for being so young.” He has the opportunity to be the face of the NBA. He is a great player.

Burress, the receiver who caught the game-winning touchdown in the Giants’ upset victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, had one of the most famous unintentional weapons-related mishaps in NFL history.

In 2008, the catcher suffered an accidental self-inflicted gunshot in a New York City nightclub that hit him in the thigh. A gun in his jean pocket began to move, and the trigger was accidentally pulled as Burress reached for it.

Burress was released from the hospital the next day but faced charges for not having a license to carry in the city.

He turned himself in and accepted a deal that earned him a two-year prison sentence, of which he served 20 months.

After his release, he played one season for the Jets and two seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers before his career was ended due to injury in 2013.

Burress hopes that Morant can grow from his mistakes and improve for the future.

“You want to see him mature as a person as his game improves,” Burress said, “and I think everything comes with time and with the right people.” He made a mistake.’
