Robert Nelson Jr. – a former NFL player and college football star with stints with the New York Jets and Houston Texans – was arrested in LA last month for alleged illegal possession of a gun.

The former Arizona State cornerback was arrested three days before Christmas on December 22 in Burbank, California TMZ Sports.

Burbank police officers were standing guard in the parking lot of a local shopping center around 9 p.m. when they noticed Nelson's car parked in a handicapped spot without a sign.

And after looking inside the vehicle, they saw a loaded handgun in plain view on the floorboard. Officers eventually found Nelson before detaining him.

Nelson was later charged with carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle and was indicted three days after his arrest on December 26.

Nelson stood out for the Arizona State Devils in 2013, earning a first-team All-Pac-12 selection as a senior after throwing six interceptions.

He signed with the Cleveland Browns after going undrafted a year later. And just like that, Nelson was cut by the team in 2015 before joining the Arizona Cardinals, who signed him after just months on the roster.
