Shved, who played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets and New York Knicks, was allegedly attacked by a hooligan outside a Moscow restaurant.

His Russian basketball team, CSKA Moscow, announced that the 34-year-old suffered “serious head injuries as a result of the fall.”

The basketball player was taken to hospital by ambulance and is said to be on the road to recovery.

The team later shared a photo of Shved wearing a neck brace in a hospital bed when some of his teammates visited him.

According to CSKA Moscow, Shved has contacted police to investigate the incident.

Due to the attack and the injuries he sustained, Shved will be unavailable for the side’s next games in a third-place VTB playoff series against Zenit.

He was traded to the Knicks from Houston on February 19, 2015 with a pair of second round picks (2017 and 2019) for Pablio Prigioni.

The six-foot-tall shooting guard spent his last season in the NBA with the Knicks in 2015, averaging 14.8 points per game in 26.4 minutes.

He returned to Europe after a contract deadlock with the Knicks, whose three offers fell on the sidelines of the $2.8 million room exception he was seeking.

He played for Khimki Moscow, before rejoining CKSA Moscow in 2021, for whom he also played from 2006-12 before starting his NBA career.
