A former Manchester United prospect has revealed he was forced to fake having sex with an imaginary woman in front of some of the club’s treble-winning heroes as part of his initiation.
Daniel Nardiello joined United from Wolves in 1999 and made his debut for the club in a League Cup loss to Arsenal two years later, aged 19.
He spent most of his time at the club on loan before leaving permanently in 2005 after completing a move to Barnsley.
These days, footballers usually have to do karaoke every time they join a new club.
However, Nardiello has revealed a much more “horrific” experience in which he claims he had to simulate sex with a woman on the table, in front of the club’s iconic heroes including David Beckham, Roy Keane and Ryan Giggs.
Former Manchester United prospect Daniel Nardiello has revealed that he had to fake sex in front of his teammates as part of his initiation into the Red Devils senior team.
He claimed that Ryan Giggs (C) led the instructions with David May, while David Beckham (L) and Roy Keane (R) were ‘turning their heads’ as they watched Nardiello’s ‘horrible’ ordeal.
speaking in the under the cosh podcast, Nardiello when asked about his United initiation, said: “Mine was that I had to make love to a [pretend] woman at the table
Some of us had to do that. You had to describe the girl. It was horrible.
‘Is she blonde, brunette, is she busty, right? ‘How do you do it? What you say?’ [I was] bright red, it was horrible.
When asked if he was “strictly missionary,” the 40-year-old replied “100 percent.”
Nardiello, who has also played for clubs including QPR, Swansea and Blackpool during his career, said he was surprised by the response from United’s first-team players.
He added: ‘These are the superstars too.
‘Was [Ryan] Giggs and David May are the main guys there, but you can see Keane and Beckham there just giving it their all and you’re like, “My God, I have to make love to a girl in front of all these guys.” .’
Other teammates were more fortunate because their initiation didn’t make them simulate sex on a table.
Nardiello only played a handful of games for United’s senior team during a career that saw him play for 13 teams, including Barnsley (pictured in 2006 League One play-off final)
The former Wales international said a teammate had to play the ‘spoon game’ with former United defender David May.
In the game, May and the anonymous young man would put spoons in their mouths and try to hit each other as hard as they could.
However, when it was May, Giggs would sneakily hit the young man over the head.
Nardiello would likely have gone through a number of initiations during his career, given that he played for 13 different teams before his career ended at Bangor City in 2017.
Arguably the highlight of his career came for Barnsley in 2006, where he scored the equalizer during the League One play-off final, forcing the game to penalties where they beat his former team Swansea 4–3. .
He also made three international appearances for Wales between 2007 and 2008.
