The Las Vegas Raiders have announced the death of Jack Squirek, the former linebacker who helped them win the Super Bowl in 1984.

Squirek was 64, but no cause of death has been revealed. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Penny, and has two children and two grandchildren.

In a post on Squirek played four years for the Raiders and was a central figure in one of the greatest football games of all time.

“He originally joined the Raiders as a second-round draft pick out of Illinois in 1982 and played in 53 career games with the Raiders before finishing his pro career with Miami.

The Las Vegas Raiders paid tribute to former linebacker Squirek after his death on Friday

“The thoughts and deepest condolences of the Raider Nation are with the Squirek family at this time.”

According to several reporters, Squirek ran a cleaning and janitorial service in the Cleveland area in his post-NFL days.
