Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has claimed that it is ‘not fair’ to compare Didier Drogba’s playing style to that of Nicolas Jackson.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side confirmed the signing of the 22-year-old striker earlier this summer, with Jackson joining from Villarreal for £32 million.

He has been taken straight into the first team, with the Argentine opting to play him in both of Chelsea’s opening Premier League games against Liverpool and West Ham, but has yet to find the back of the net.

Chelsea will hope he can score more goals this season after The Blues were one of the lowest scoring teams in the Premier League last season.

And speaking of his potential, Hasselbaink said he believes Jackson has “a lot of potential,” but added that we shouldn’t compare him to club legend Drogba.

But Hasselbaink (pictured) agreed that Jackson

But Hasselbaink (pictured) agreed that Jackson “wasn’t the finished article, but certainly has great potential.”

‘They are completely different. Talking about Didier Drogba is not fair to the boy. But we all know his runs and work rate are absolutely fantastic,” the former Chelsea forward told Sky Sports on Friday Night Football.

“I actually think he’s doing too much. I want to see him a bit more around 16, but I want his teammates to like him a bit more around 16.

These are the things he can do that Didier Drogba wouldn’t do. You know that you dribble the ball down the center of the field for a long time and then pass it to his teammate.

“He has so much potential. The only thing I’m a little disappointed with is that they got a penalty against West Ham, and (he should have) taken the ball as a striker and scored your first goal.’

Drogba arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2004 and scored 164 goals in 381 appearances in all competitions for the Blues, winning four Premier League trophies as well as a Champions League title.

Jackson is now only starting his career with the London club, but former striker Hasselbaink was not worried and stated that the goals will come.

When asked if attackers are faced with a goal drought, the Dutchman replied: ‘Yes, that happens and I think it’s a matter of time. Every striker experiences moments like this.

“He’s there to get the chances, but if he doesn’t get those chances, that would be more worrying for me. The one against Liverpool was a very good chance.

“When he’s in shape he puts that away or at least the goalkeeper saves the other players around him who have to find him, he can’t do everything alone. Definitely far from the finished article. But he has great potential.
