Evri is celebrating its busiest Christmas yet after delivering more than 150 million festive parcels
Last minute: Evri said households left Christmas shopping late as they waited for discounts
Evri celebrated its busiest Christmas yet after delivering more than 150 million parcels.
According to the company, households left Christmas shopping late as they waited for last-minute discounts due to continued pressure on family finances.
Evri, formerly called Hermes, saw a 21 percent increase in deliveries in the last week before Christmas compared to the same week in 2022. In contrast, the company delivered fewer packages around Black Friday in November as nervous consumers postponed spending. It delivered 154 million parcels in the nine weeks to December 30.
The company came under extra pressure last year when the postal companies went on strike. Shoppers flocked to the High Street as they worried about late deliveries.
But this year, customers rushed to buy due to “strong demand” for goods from Chinese sites Shein and Temu.
