He’s on his way to Hollywood glory with numerous blockbuster movies and award nominations to his name, but Barry Keoghan’s route to stardom is all the more remarkable given the adversity of his early life.
He The 30-year-old Irish actor has played major roles in Batman, Eternals, American Animals, Dunkirk and Chernobyl, and most recently, the Golden Globe-winning The Banshees of Inisherin, which has earned him an Oscar nomination.
It’s an incredible rise to stardom after growing up in 13 different foster homes because his father was absent and his mother, who died when he was 12, was a heroin addict.
After being kicked out of school plays for “goofing around”, the father-of-one says acting helped him overcome some of his childhood trauma, after initially pursuing careers in boxing and football.

Blessed with abundant black locks, strong cheekbones, good looks and extraordinary acting talent, it’s no wonder opportunities continually come his way.
But success and stardom didn’t come on a platter to Keoghan, who has fought a quagmire of personal battles.
Growing up in Summerhill, in the beating heart from Dublin, the young Irishman had an exceptionally difficult upbringing.
His mother was a heroin addict and very little is known about his father.

Eric is often featured on his brother’s Instagram account. He has a girl and enjoys shooting in his spare time.
Growing up, Keoghan had his eyes set on making it as a boxer, and he still competes at an amateur level, or as a footballer.

Keoghan was known to be a rascal and trickster at school.

Throughout his twenty years, he published a number of photos of him trying on celebrity costumes, including Frank Sidebottom and Spiderman.
Keoghan got his start in acting in 2011 when he applied for a role in Between the Canals, an Irish film that follows the lives of three inveterate criminals.
She then went on to study acting at The Factory in Dublin before appearing on the Irish soap opera Fair City at the age of 18.
His biggest breakthrough came when he landed a role in the World War II film Dunkirk, where he played the character of George Mills.
In 2021, Keoghan was reported to have moved into a different relationship with Alyson Kierans, with the two welcoming a son in August 2022.
Since then, he has appeared in a number of famous movies, including Batman, Eternals, American Animals and the television series Chernobyl.
When he heard that the latest Batman movie was in production, he gave an unsolicited audition for the role of Ridler.
By the time she met the film’s producer, Dylan Clark, the role was already taken.
However, months later he received a call and the team asked him if he could step in and play the Joker.
The Batman star in April 2022 also opened up about his ADHD diagnosis, revealing how he felt like he had it as a child.
His condition has made it difficult for him to read large books, admitting the reason why he was more drawn to movies.
In his sentimental life, it is known that he started a relationship in 2017 with Shona Guerrin after meeting her in a pub.
Shona was working as a waitress at the time, but said that the two should never have gotten together, as she remembered that Keoghan was with another woman at the time.
The two became boyfriends after Keoghan wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.
During their three-year relationship, images on Shona’s social media show the two enjoying a beach vacation, drinking cocktails and posing at a Late Late Show premiere.
In 2021, Keoghan began a new relationship, this time with Alyson Kierans, a dentist whose father is from County Cavan.
Just a few months into being together, he broke the news that the couple was expecting a baby.
His son Brandon was born in August 2022 and he called the moment ‘indescribable’ in an interview with gq magazine.
She has now amassed nearly a million followers on Instagram and posts regularly on the site.
It was reported last year that he was arrested in Dublin, Ireland, early Sunday morning in connection with public intoxication while on an apartment balcony.
Officials “were called to the apartments after receiving reports of a man on a balcony intoxicated,” a source told the outlet.
“When they arrived, he was not threatening in any way, but they arrested him and took him to the Garda station, where he was treated before being released.”
The Dublin, Ireland native was transported to the Coolock garda station and given a warning before being released without charge, according to the outlet.
A source at the time said independent.es that the problem was over pretty quickly ‘and nothing else will come of it’.
A year before he was arrested, he was the victim of assault and was reportedly hospitalized and came out with injuries to his face.
