While Kate Middleton revealed her unusual love of kidneys earlier this week, her children have much more conventional tastes in food.
Over the years, the Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a number of anecdotes about their young brood’s diet, Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four.
And whether it’s homemade pizzas or vegetable curries with a kick, it’s clear the trio are spoiled for choice when they get home from school.
While Prince William has said he’s not a natural in the kitchen, over the years Kate has shared with others what her family likes to eat when they cook together.
Here, FEMAIL reveals what the family usually eats…
During a visit to a school, Kate revealed that her children like an apple and some cornflakes for breakfast. Pictured: George, Louis and Charlotte decorate cupcakes with their mom Kate for a Platinum Jubilee street party
FRUIT AND CEREAL FOR BREAKFAST
When Kate Kate visited LEYF (London Early Years Foundation) Stockwell Gardens Nursery and Pre-school in London in January 2020, the princess shared what her children eat for breakfast.
School manager Michelle Samuels told today.com: “She told the children that her own children like to eat apples and cereal in the morning, which started a conversation with the children about their own preference for fruit.”
HOMEMADE CHEESE PASTE…
During a visit to Lavender Primary School, Kate told the children that she regularly gets her two eldest children to cook – including their favorite ‘cheesy pasta’.
She explained how each of the children has a small part in the process – ‘one stirs the flour, the other puts in the milk and butter’.
Afterwards, Matthew Kleiner-Mann, CEO of the Ivy Learning Trust, said: ‘She told us how much her children love to cook and how they cook for her. They recently made cheesy pasta.
“One stirs the flour, the other puts in the milk and butter, and they make salads and stuff.
“Eating is important to her and she understands the links between mental health and exercise.”
…AND CARBONARA
Celebrity chef Aldo Zilli unveiled Prince George’s favorite food in 2020: the Mediterranean classic spaghetti carbonara.
Italian-born Aldo, 67, who now lives in Surrey and is an ambassador for Centrepoint, the youth homeless charity, told how he has had a number of encounters with Prince William, 41, patron of the organisation.
During their conversations over the years, Aldo recounted how Prince William talked animatedly about his three children — revealing George’s favorite meal.
‘[William’s] great – I’m waiting for the call because apparently his little boy’s favorite is spaghetti carbonara, so I’m waiting for the call to start cooking it for him,” Aldo told FEMAIL.
‘[William] is an absolute gentleman. He will come to you, talk to you about – he knows everything about everyone. That’s what I like about people like that, before they come to you, they make sure they know who you are and what you do for a living, it’s a very intelligent thing to do.
“He’s such a great, great guy, I’m a big fan of the royal family.”
Cheeky Aldo added, “If George has my carbonara, he’ll never have one again, so I gotta get it, let’s get the ball rolling, send me to the palace to cook!”
CURRIES
Kate revealed that Charlotte loves eating olives – a classic Mediterranean snack and cheesy pasta
Kate previously revealed that she likes to make curries – especially vegetable ones.
And while the princess may be able to handle her spice, she said she should tone down the spice level for her husband, Prince William.
The Princess of Wales said her daughter, Charlotte, also loves Asian food.
She told Prince Shah Karim Al Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, before their 2019 tour of Pakistan that she had to tone down the spiciness for George and Louis, but said, “Charlotte is pretty good with heat.”
FRESH VEGETABLES
The Princess of Wales is known for her love of a nutritious and vitamin-rich lifestyle with her healthy hair and radiant skin.
So it’s no surprise that she’s encouraged her kids over the years to eat just as healthy.
The Princess of Wales previously revealed that her children love their five-a-day meal.
Speaking to Mary Berry on A Berry Royal Christmas, she said: ‘We grow our own vegetables, we have carrots, beans, beetroot, a huge favourite, Louis absolutely loves beetroot.’
Princess Charlotte is also said to be a fan of Charlotte potatoes – probably due to their shared name – as well as olives.
Speaking to students at North London’s Lavender Primary School in 2019, Kate said her only daughter – Princess Charlotte – enjoys munching on a classic Mediterranean snack: olives.
“Charlotte likes olives,” she said.
FRESH PIZZA
Everyone loves pizza for dinner, even the thought of tomato, dough, basil and mozzarella dancing on your taste buds is enough to make anyone’s stomach rumble.
But the royals don’t pop a frozen pizza in the oven or order from their local takeaway, they make it from scratch.
While preparing food at St. Luke’s Community Center for London’s Commonwealth Big Lunch event, Kate said George, Charlotte and Louis’ favorite food is pizza.
Kate said, “I did that with George and Charlotte, making pizza dough.
“They love it because they can get their hands dirty.”
TASTY REWARDS
The kids have a favorite dish: homemade pizza. They like making the dough from scratch
Last year, the children of the Welsh royal family baked cakes with their mother Kate for a street party in Cardiff, which took place to mark the Queen’s late Platinum Jubilee.
Adorable photos posted online by the then duchess and duke showed Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, making the treats in their kitchen.
The short caption read: ‘Baking cakes for the local Cardiff community to enjoy at a Platinum Jubilee street party taking place today! We hope you like them!’
The photos showed the three children mixing the ingredients together before frosting the cupcakes with the Duchess.
Union Jack garlands hung in the kitchen while Charlotte cracked eggs and Louis used a sifter to add the flour to the cake mix.
Meanwhile, George could be seen helping his sister add the ingredients.
