Every fake mobile game ad is now real
If you’ve played mobile games or even just scrolled through social media, you’ve no doubt seen a misleading ad for a mobile game. Maybe it was an advertisement for Hero Warslike it this one shows a number based tower game – an advertisement that bears no resemblance to the actual game. Or maybe it was an ad for a Water Sort game that do works as advertised but also makes you watch a video ad between each puzzle. Sure, these games are free to download, but there are still costs associated with playing them.
What if you could pay $10 to play five of these classic puzzle games, without misleading or overbearing advertising or microtransactions? A new PC game has you covered and explains itself through this hilariously long title: Yes! You want “Those Games”, right? So here you go! Now, let’s see you clean them up!
I just bought and installed Yes! You want “Those Games”, and it is exactly what it says on the tin. My personal favorite mini-game is ‘Color Lab’, a version of the Water Sort puzzle games, which I once fell into the trap of downloading onto my phone, only to discover it was riddled with ads. I ended up buying and playing an ad-free version until it became too hard to continue without the inevitable demand that I watch ads again to unlock additional cups. Again, this is very common – these types of mobile puzzle games inevitably prompt you to watch ads or buy microtransactions, without paying a flat fee instead.
Yes! You want “Those Games” contains no ads or microtransactions, although there are a limited number of puzzles available to play. The other four minigames are “Pin Pull” (similar to Rescue Hero: Pull the pin), “Cash Run” (similar to Money Run 3D), “Number Tower” (same premise as the misleading one Hero Wars ad at the top), and “Parking” (similar to Parking Failure 3D). My only complaint, shared with the other “Mostly Positive” reviews the game’s Steam page, is that I want a lot more mini games and puzzles. That’s because I love what’s available so far!
These are not deep or difficult games, but sometimes you don’t want that. Sometimes you just want something simple to play while lying on the couch, phone in hand, half watching episodes of The blacklist. In case of Yes! You want “Those Games”, I just put it on my Steam Deck and have a much better experience than with my small collection of mobile games because I don’t have to mute my phone while endless ads play for other predatory mobile games. That’s well worth my $10.
