Everton are 19th in the Premier League and their next game is at home to leaders Arsenal, at which point a new manager could be appointed.

Doucoure joined Everton from Watford in September 2020 for £22m. In the ensuing term he has made 80 appearances.

After the loss to Southampton, Everton players Yerry Mina and Anthony Gordon were confronted in the street by fans, and Lampard subsequently asked supporters not to approach the players in their cars.

Everton fans have expressed their disapproval of the club’s board of directors, as Lampard’s side have produced some woeful performances this season.

So far in the transfer window, Everton have not made any signings despite fears that they could be relegated to the Championship.
