The FA Cup third round between Everton and Peterborough will be played tonight after concerns were raised about the match being postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
Snow and ice in the Merseyside area led to Everton scheduling a safety meeting for 1pm to determine whether the match could go ahead.
This has now been completed and the competition has been given the green light.
The Toffees confirmed the good news in a statement which read: ‘Everton’s FA Cup third round tie with Peterborough United will go ahead as planned this evening (7.45pm kick-off).
‘A safety meeting was held this afternoon to assess weather and travel conditions for fans attending the match, which confirmed the match can go ahead.
‘Everton Staff and a team from Liverpool City Council’s Streetscene Services team have been tackling the roads and footpaths around the stadium since this morning to ensure they are as safe as possible for supporters entering the stadium.

‘Anyone visiting Goodison Park is advised to prepare for the cold conditions, exercise caution and allow extra time as may be required to travel to the match, including being aware of any advisories and weather warnings issued may be in effect in the areas fans travel from.’
This will come as a relief for Everton as they have already had to move one match from earlier this season.
Their Merseyside derby with Liverpool was postponed in early December when Storm Darragh hit the area.
This competition has yet to be given a new date.
