Everton defender Mason Holgate goes to Southampton for a medical before signing on loan.
The 26-year-old has had a rough time at Everton over the past two seasons and is ready for a fresh start.
Southampton have been chasing Holgate all summer and want him alongside Nathan Wood, their other central defender, from Swansea City.
Holgate was bought by Everton from Barnsley in 2015 and expectations were high that he would follow in the footsteps of John Stones as a central defender with good technical skills. He was also deployed at right-back and defensive midfield under Carlo Ancelotti.
He was capped by England at U21 level but constant managerial changes and gnawing injuries have not helped his development and he played just nine games under Sean Dyche last season.

Southampton are keen to strengthen themselves as central defenders, with Armel Bella-Kotchap attracting interest from Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich and following the departures of Mohammed Salisu and Duje Caleta-Car. Lyanco also has interest from clubs in Europe and his native Brazil.
Holgate has made a total of 149 appearances during his time at Everton.
His contract with the club will run for another two years.
