Everton and West Ham could brace themselves to duke it out in the boardroom in a bid to beat each other in the race to sign Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson in the upcoming transfer window.

Johnson is valued at £40 million by Forest after his efforts helped keep Steve Cooper’s side in the Premier League.

Everton are keen to strengthen their squad during Sean Dyche’s first summer and have identified Johnson as a potential new signing.

Meanwhile, West Ham are looking to lure the 22-year-old England talent to the London Stadium in the off-season after an impressive debut campaign in the top flight.

Johnson made 44 appearances in all competitions for Forest last season, scoring eight Premier League and two Carabao Cup goals.

The striker rose through the academy at Forest before breaking into the first team four years ago and making his senior debut in the Championship.

He showed off his talents to traveling Everton supporters by scoring twice against the Toffees in a 2–2 draw at the City Ground in March.

His goals in all competitions saw Johnson finish the season as Forest’s second-highest goalscorer behind Taiwo Awoniyi.

Meanwhile, West Ham’s transfer grant could be further bolstered if they win the Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina on Wednesday.
