Evernote users are apparently being forced onto more expensive plans without them knowing
Some Evernote users are being switched from older plans to more expensive plans, according to comments on Reddit The edge.
A Reddit user said their account had been upgraded from Evernote Plus to Evernote Personal, a change they only learned about after noticing a “Welcome to Evernote Personal” banner in Evernote.
Another user noticed the same issue, noting that their subscription had increased from $79 per year for Plus to $159 for Personal.
Does Evernote charge more for subscriptions?
Other users reported on the platform that their Plus subscriptions remained unchanged and that they still expected to pay what they had previously.
Among the discussion were suggestions that some users were considering downgrading to the free tier, or switching to other popular note-taking apps such as Notion, which has recently proven popular on social media platforms with creators promoting the app.
The original message has since been updated: “Evernote responded saying my account was accidentally changed and I was being converted back to Plus. I checked and I’m using Plus again.”
TechRadar Pro asked Evernote to confirm whether this is a bug impacting users on older accounts or whether it has plans to transition users to current tiers, but the company did not immediately respond.
The popular note-taking app was acquired by Italian company Bending Spoons earlier this year, before it was later confirmed that it would move to Europe, leaving a trail of layoffs in its wake in the US.
